Even if your future is uncertain, you can certainly save money when you shop short term electricity rates in Philly!

If you’re a Philadelphia college student who’s graduating this spring, you probably feel a charge of excitement as to what the future holds. And if you’re renting in Philly and will be staying in the city for only a few months afterwards, you may be able to save money on electricity with a short-term plan. While you figure out what the future holds, remember renters save on short term electricity rates when they choose the right plans. One of these six-month plans may be perfect for you!

Lowest Rate Six Month Plan

If you want the cheapest Philadelphia six-month electricity plan, consider the APG&E TrueSimple 6 plan. The plan has a 9.55 cents per kWh rate and a $1.99 monthly recurring charge. But, if you cancel the plan early, you’ll pay a $100 early termination fee. At the end of six months, you’ll receive two renewal notices from the company. If you don’t reply, APG&E will keep your contract going at a holdover rate determined by the company. This rate stays in place until you renew the contract or cancel your service.

Electricity Plan with No Monthly Charges

Another six-month electricity plan option is the NextEra Energy NextEra Eco Saver 6 plan. The rate is 10.49 cents per kWh and there are no monthly recurring charges attached to the plan. If you cancel the contract early, you have to pay an early termination fee of $10 for every month remaining on the contract. When the six-month term is almost up, look for written renewal notices. In them, the company explains your options when your contract expires. If you don’t respond, NextEra Energy could automatically enroll you in a new plan.

Plan with No Early Termination Fee

If you don’t know how long you’ll stay in your rented place after graduation, you might want to choose an electricity plan without an early termination fee. The Frontier Utilities Online Premier – 6 plan has no early termination fee plus no monthly recurring charges. The plan rate is 12.99 cents per kWh, which is a few cents higher than the prior two options. Note that this plan rate is for new customers only. Near the end of the contract, Frontier Utilities sends you two written renewal notices stating what happens when it expires. If you don’t respond, the company continues your plan on a monthly basis with a variable rate.

Find a Short Term Electricity Plan Today

Don’t risk being frozen in place by a long-term electricity plan!
