Their current price to compare (PTC) rate is a whopping 10.607 cents per kWh! Thankfully, PA Electric Choice lets you choose your own supplier. If you shop for the right electricity plan with low rates, you can save you a ton on your electricity bill. But where to start? Not to worry! Check out our top five electricity plans to save you money in the Penelec service area.

Save On Electricity Rates for New Customers

The Penelec PTC rate of 10.607 ends on May 31, 2024. Assuming an average monthly electricity usage is 854 kWh, that means the PTC cost is about $90.58 per month. We can do much better than that!

Firstly we have Direct Energy. Their their Live Brighter 12 plan is a great deal for new customers. At a fixed rate of 8.89 cents per kWh it’s currently the cheapest 12-month rate on the market. That’s a monthly energy supply cost of about $75.92. So at the current PTC rate, that’s about $15 less per month, or $180 a year! And with no monthly charges or early termination fees. So if you’re a new customer, give Direct Energy a shot.

Get Rewarded for Saving on Your Electricity Rate

If you want a provider with great rewards, then Xoom Energy is right for you. They have one of the most robust rewards programs available, XoomXtras. And three great plans to choose from.

First is the Sure Lock 12, their standard 12 month fixed rate plan. At 9.49 cents per kWh, you’ll spend about $81.04 a month in energy supply costs. But compared to the current PTC rate, you could save $10 a month. That’s $120 in a year!

Their Rescue Lock 12 on the other hand is 9.69 cents per kWh. So that would cost you about $82.75 a month in energy supply costs. But compared to the current PTC rate, you could save $8 a month, or $96 in a year! The reason for the price difference is that Xoom donates 5% of all your monthly energy charges to Pet Smart charities.

Finally there’s the Simple Clean 12. With this plan you get entirely renewable energy at 9.49 cents per kWh. So you’ll spend about $81.04 a month in energy supply costs. But compared to the current PTC rate, you could save $10 a month. That’s $120 in a year!

Note that all three plans have no monthly charges, but there is an early termination fee of $110.

Best Electricity Rate from a Top Rated Provider

Next we have a plan from our #4 company rated electricity provider. The True Simple 12 plan from APG&E comes in with a fixed rate of only 9.29 cents per kWh. That’s a monthly energy supply cost of about $79.34. So compared to the current PTC rate, you could save $11 a month, or $132 in a year! There is a small monthly charge of $1.99 to be aware of, as well as an early termination fee of $150.

Save on Your Electricity with the Best Rates

You don’t have to stick with the Penelec rate! Locking in one of these plans can save you a ton. And these plans are sure to keep you saving all year long, especially if rates rise again next spring.

Stay on top of all the news affecting your energy bills as well as compare providers and shop the best electricity rates for your home at https://www.paenergyratings.com.

[82,9,59,66,105
