Electricity rates have been steadily rising this year, up 13% already for PECO customers. And with the recent PJM auction results, prices are primed to continue rising into the summer. Thankfully, you can save money on rising rates by shopping for cheap electricity. Check out these electricity deals for Philadelphia customers!

Fall PECO Electricity Rate Increase

The PECO PTC rate of 10.4 cents expires December 1, 2025. Their Generation Service Charge (GSA) rate is 9.50 cents but on December 1, it goes up 10.237 cents. That’s an increase of 7.7%.

While, the full PTC price will include a FERC approved transmission price, we don’t know how much it will be. However, we can make a guess by adding 7.7% to the current PTC rate. That about 11.2 cents per kWh.

So, assuming the average PA uses 854 kWh a month, the PECO PTC supply charge will cost around $95.65 per month. We can beat that!

Fall Electricity Deals in Philadelphia

We have three recommended plans in Philly that beat the estimated PTC rate. And locking in that low rate can protect you from further PTC rate hikes in the future. So with the fall weather cooling and higher rates on the horizon, now’s the time to shop!

Our first plan meets the estimated PTC rate, but with a bonus. The Verde Energy Clean Power 12 plan is 11.2 cents per kWh, which means your monthly supply charge will run about $95.65. This plan is supported 100% by renewable energy through RECs. And, as a bonus, there are no monthly charges or early termination fees. So that allows you plenty of flexibility in case of sudden life changes.

Next up is the Electric 12 Month Fixed Rate WITH MRC plan from Public Power, coming in at a low of 9.2 cents per kWh. There is a $14.95 monthly charge which brings your estimated monthly supply charge to $93.50. But, the more you use, the less the monthly charge impacts your rate. Just keep the $50 early cancellation fee in mind.

Finally we have the Clear Guarentee 9 Plus plan from Clearview Energy coming in at a low of 9.7 cents per kWh. Additionally, the $19.95 monthly charge brings the estimated monthly supply charge to $102.78. Yes, it is higher than our estimated PTC rate. However, because it is an estimate, the final rate could be higher. But, just like our previous plan, the more power you use, the less that monthly charge impacts your rate. Again, keep the $150 early cancellation fee in mind.

Shop Electricity Deals this Fall!

So, with Philly PTC electricity prices rising, now is the best time to shop and lock in a lower rate. But if none of these plans work for you, don’t worry! We’ve got other plans that’ll fit your needs. After all, we’re here to make shopping for an electricity plan easy.
