And PECO customers got the short end of the stick, with prices jumping by 5%! On top of that, NOAA is predicting a hot and humid summer in PA. In fact, we already have a dangerous heat wave coming for Independance Day weekend. So, you can expect to use a lot of electricity to cool your home this summer. And if you’re already a high energy use home, saving money on electricity might seem impossible!

Thankfully, if you want to save on your summer bills, we have a solution. Just shop for the best electric supplier you can find. And to help you start, check out these plans that save more in Philadelphia.

Shop and Save with a High Energy Use Home

The PECO PTC rate is 11.572 cents per kWh. So, assuming the average monthly electricity usage is about 967 kWh, that’s around $112 a month for the supply charge alone. But due to summer weather, your usage may be higher! So, we have several PECO electricity plans that will help you save money.

First up, we have the Xoom Energy SureLock 6 plan. This plan comes in at 11.4 cents per kWh, so energy supply costs will run about $110 per month. Moreover, through their XoomXtras rewards program, you can earn points to spend on anything from gift cards to vacation stays that make up for the higher rate. And there are no monthly charges! However, there is an early termination fee of $55 to bear in mind.

Next, we have a great renewable energy plan from Inspire Clean Energy. Their Inspire Fixed 6 plan comes in at 11.5¢ per kWh, bringing your total to about $98 a month. And for this price, you gain 100% renewable energy supported by renewable energy certificates (RECs). And as a bonus, there’s no additional monthly charges or early termination fees to worry about.

Get a Great Deal in Philly

Last but not least, we have two plans from Clearview Energy. The first is their standard offer, the Clear Guarantee 6 plan. This plan comes in at 11.5¢ per kWh, bringing your total to $111 a month. And while 6 months is a short period, this plan has a $150 early cancellation fee. This plan also comes with their Clearview Energy Rewards program, where you can earn points to spend on discounts and to participate in giveaways. And if that’s not enough for you, they have other plans that offer free nightly electric vehicle charging through their EV program.

Their Clear Guarantee 6 Plus High Usage plan has an astoundingly low rate at 9.6 cents per kWh. But this plan also includes a $19.99 monthly service fee. So, if you use 967 kWh in a month, your total will be $112, just like the PTC rate. However, if you use more energy than that, you’ll pay less per kWh than you would with the PTC rate. For example, if you use 1200 kWh, your supply charges would be $115.20 + 19.99 MRC = $135.19. Compare that to PECO’s PTC supply charge of $138.86. And the savings go up more as you use more power.

The plan also comes with all the benefits of other Clearview Energy plans, making this one a perfect choice for high usage homes.

Shop and Save this Summer

With higher PTC rates here, now is the time to shop for a better electricity plan. And these plans shield you against rising rates not just for this summer, but for months afterward. Thankfully, shopping with PA Energy Ratings the find the best energy supplier is easy!
