“ Gateway lures you in with promises of saving you money thru their purchasing electricity at lower costs than National Grid. In Dec 2023 just last month they raised my supply charge 38% and told me ' there is nothing you can do, our market team determines the rate of charge'. Wow!! My billing cycle is 22nd to the 22nd. On December 29th I removed my Christmas lights and went thru whole house and made every effort to turn off event the 13w LED bulbs and my charge is $156 from Gateway. They raised the rate even more as my usage went down. I fired them and going back to National Grid. I suggest you pay attention to your bill and just don't accept - Oh, it's Christmas and we used more electricity and pay the bill!!! Do your homework and you'll see 38% and more increase per kilowatt!!! Fight back and fire them. ”
“ My gas bill with the gas company I have had for 45 years was ridiculously high. I called my gas company as to why my bill is so high, come to find out I supposingly signed up with Gateway Energy Service. I did not sign up with Gateway Energy Service and I want Gateway Energy Service to take off of their account. When I get my March bill if I still on Gateway Energy Service I will contact Better Business and my attorney. This FRAUD. ”
“ This company charged us over double what National Grid charges. They increased their rates without informing us. ”
“ This company ( Gateway Energy ) will lure you in with a very attractive offer and then slowly increase your rate. Ever so slightly increase your rate so that you barely notice.. Beware! Our electric bill was nearly 50% more than what I would have been paying to the provider they lured me away from. I am currently researching if this a fraudulent act and if I can take legal action against them to pay me back what they ripped me off for. ”
“ I cannot pay this at once !!!!!!! ”
“
We don't understand how our 3-bedroom 1200 sq. ft home could have a bill for $807 for June-July of this year! Our payment this time last year was $380.
This is an extreme hardship for us, as we are Social Security. This is greed at the highest level!! Could this possibly be an error? ”
“ I've been with Gateway for awhile now and Its been good so far when it comes to providing gas and all these type of products. Im hoping I can be with them in the future since it is affordable compared to other companies and I am quite in a budget. ”
“ I signed up for a plan with a variable rate. I received my first bill which covered a partial billing cycle (20 days) and all was well. Where things went wrong was my expectation to receive a full 30 day billing cycle at the low introductory rate. Needless to say, the rate went up by about 20% on the next billing cycle, and when I called to explain that I expected the introductory rate for a complete 30 day billing cycle, the rep could not grasp this simple concept and repeatedly offered to switch me to a fixed rate plan. Unless consumers are completely insipid, I find it hard to beleive that this was the first time this rep has taken a complaint call about this issue. I'm glad I only signed up for month by month, because I cannot stand slick b.s. sales tactics. Once I am gone I will never come back. Their loss. ”
“ Found them through Power to Choose's web site. I sorted by price and they were the lowest price and had a $50 visa card. No brainer! ”
