“ They switched me from another provider, without my or my wifes knowledge or approval. Their door to door salesman turned in a contract with a fake email and it was either unsigned or forged. They never even came to our house. It was a difficult process to straighten out and we lost the old rates we had and had to re-enroll just to get our old service back! ”
“ IDT Energy has a policy of deceptive business practices, a.k.a. scams. I was approached today by a very personable young man named Jerome who intimated that he was here to speak with me from PPL in order to clear-up a rate discrepancy in my favor. (I should have known better at once, but alas, he caught me just home from work with five other things on my mind!) At no point did he say he was from IDT Energy, nor that he wanted me to sign a contract with them, and yet that is what he suckered me into doing, unaware and unseen. The whole time he kept talking about PPL, not IDT and he was very careful to make sure I never saw beyond the signature box that he had zoomed-in on to hide the fact that the signature was for a contract, not a confirmation from PPL. It wasn't until he left, and I saw the text message in my inbox with the link to the contract to be signed, that I realized what had happened. IDT Energy are liars, and ought to be shut down. Whatever rates or promises they offer, you should not trust them, because any business that engages in such deception in order to scam a person into becoming an unwitting customer cannot be trusted to behave in a scrupulous manner afterwards. They are a company of scammers, and ought to be shut down. ”
“ One of their representatives signed me up for this service without my knowledge and when I saw it in my bill I called and told them I never signed up for it. They sent me the contract that was supposedly signed by me, wasnt my signature nor my email or phone number. Sent them proof it was not my signature they stated they would investigate, after 2 weeks they call me back and state that they would give me a credit of $35 dollars, toward the $99.05 that was charged to my Pepco account. Told them I didnt agree to it as wasnt something I signed up for, the investigator told me I couldnt get anything for free and would not communicate with me any further. So now I am stuck with a bill that has doubled since they were fraudulently added, and no way of getting this off my bill as my energy supplier is telling me I have to deal with IDT with this matter. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY, STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!! ”
“ They have sales rep walking neighborhoods lying to people saying their current gas n electric company is overcharging them and we will get refunded for being over changed. Using that to get your account info to fraudulently sign you up for their company. ”
“ Overpriced. Horrible customer service - agents won't escalate to a supervisor when you request, but instead argue with you. Difficult to get in touch with. Sleazy door-to-door sales people - RUN AWAY AND DO NOT ENGAGE. If I could rate every category with zero stars, I would. ”
“ This company is great at scamming but thats about all they are good at. Im a college student looking to save a quick buck and was essentially prayed on for that. The door to door person came to my apartments back door which was not appreciated because its directly connected to a bedroom. They were persistent with their deal and were very convincing when explaining the money I would save. This was far from the truth. As spring is coming around we turned our heat off and the bill continued to be the same. I go to look at my electric bill thru my main supplier and it was only $40!!! Yet I was paying and extra $100 due to the fees and being a member with IDT. I was shocked, these fees I thought were just our electric bill because I was not told about them, I have been paying on the for months and the money I could have save is unbelievable. I did not speak to a rep when cancelling my services but rather thru the live chat, overall was an ok experience but they did try to push new promotions on to me which I obviously did not take. So take this advice from a chump that fell for it and DO NOT use this companys services!! ”
“ Renewal involved deceptive business practices (said I renewed for 1 month, not 1 year) then wouldn't let me out for 2 billing cycles, charging me almost twice the going rate! ”
“ I have contacted my City Council Representative regarding this company. They market by sending the most unprofessional people to your door who will say anything including lie to try and convince you to change your energy supplier. Today is Sunday and as we are sitting down for dinner someone starts knocking at my door. When I say I am not interested she says she will continue to come to my house until I speak to her. I am putting up a no trespassing and no solicitation sign to keep these people off my property. I am also contacting the neighborhood association to see what can be done. If your product has true value you do not need to use nefarious means to acquire and retain customers. Maybe a harassment suit is in order. ”
“ I really liked how friendly the people were who signed me up, at first I was kind of off put when they showed up at my door I thought they were trying to sign me up for something more expensive but after the phone call i my supply rate was cut by a third. Great company would recommend ”
“ Beware of this company they will charge for no services provided on their behalf. You will end up paying double in everything!!! ”
“ Essay ”
“ The sales rep was very pleasant! He explained everything really well & definitely been saying money ever since 7 months in. ”
“ I Never order IDT called to cancel on August 4 after seeing a $80 IDT charge on my bill. Plus My Regular Pepco charge of $42. I was billed again $180 from IDT with my regular Pepco charge of $51 so I called Customer Service again and was told they received a meter readings from Pepco August 7 to close out account. But will continue to bill me for two billing cycles and Ill have to pay them. Scammmers!!!! Was told on this call with customer service that they are on my Washington Gas Bill as well WTW . I do have the cancellation confirmation numbers and currently working with Pepco to see if I can resolve this through them ”
“ It was a pleasant experience ”
“ The representative came to my door in my secured building that has a no soliciting sign really big directly next to the door apparently he came in behind one of the residence and was able to make his way through my building going door to door. When he came to my door I was literally told that he was from AEP and that he had been alerted by my smart meter that I had changed my service provider and had selected someone out of state That was actually increasing my bill he had another gentleman with him it was wearing construction like clothing and also hat on a reflective construction vest I was told that was the gentleman that was updating my smart meter and that again they were both from AEP so during this false conversation and me being under the impression that the gentleman was AEP I signed paperwork to get this out of state supplier off of my billing and just go back to AEP get my next Bill and Notice I am with yet another supplier! I DT energy! I am livid they havent saved me any money at all in fact my bill is even higher than what it used to be my normal monthly electric bill used to be $70 a month and now its $160 per month! I am calling the public utilities commission and reporting this company as well as the representative that came to my door for falsely advertising their service leading me to believe that they were AEP not IDT energy!!! The door to door reps are liars and Misleading so they can STEAL MY MONEY!! Well, I am NOT going to be laying that portion of my bill and per the REAL AEP, those charges will go right back to that supplier. PEOPLE BEWARE! IDT ENERGY IS A SCAM AND IF YOU GET SOMEONE AT YOUR DOOR MAKING PROMISES REGARDING COST, dont believe anything they tell you because NONE OF IT IS TRUE! ”
“ IDT Energy was my electricity supplier for almost 13 months. Received a decent 12 month fixed price but after 12 months the electric supply charge more than doubled as it defaulted to a variable rate. I called about 20 days into the 13th month and IDT rep could not tell me what my variable rate was. Company rep on a second call said they do not notify Maryland customers at or near contract end since the State does not require them to do so. Do the right thing...notify in writing (letter or email) that one's fixed price time period is ending and give the customer a choice not a deep supply price increase. Back with Pepco now where pricing is clear and future pricing is published. ”
