Beware your renewal!

  I'm with others who have mentioned that if you miss your renewal - and they send ONE piece of snail mail about that (if you even get it - I didn't) - Town Square can (and WILL) charge to any rate they want. You'll then call frantically, only to find out it will take ~2 billing cycles to get you on a new plan with a reasonable rate. Town Square charged me 70% over National Grid's rates when this happened to me, costing me hundreds of dollars. There should be a cap on what they can charge, but they have carte blanche and there's nothing you can do about it. So make sure you know your renewal date, and mark your calendar ~3 full months in advance of it to choose a new plan/rate. If not for this egregious price gouging, I'd give them a great review. But my renewal experience was so awful I'd never recommend Town Square to anyone as a new customer.

double dip charging

  I was told I wouldn't be charged by both cmp and town square yet the rate you charged me at was twice as high cmp and they were charging too. So I was paying double sometimes triple for electric to one resident. You are a SCAM. Then called to unenroll and you kept on my bill and then I sat for hold for over an hour. So do I get paid for sitting on hold. I mean time is money.

  You took our business but have not sent out any bills. We're still paying the electric and gas companies themselves. Then you send some type of bills to your collection agency. Still determining if this company is actually a scam.

Buyer Beware!!

  I used Town Square Energy for several years. During the ridiculous rate increase and fees by the State of Connecticut's PURA , TSE took full advantage, and without notice, increased the supply rate by four times the original agreed upon rate. When I called to enroll in their then current promotional rate which was much lower, they denied us. I tried to cancel and they said it would take two billing cycles which is a flat out lie. I called ES and they explained how easy it was to switch out of TSE which took immediate effect. Stay away from this company - I find their price gouging to be an unfair business practice!

  I had an absolute horrible experience with town Square energy due to the clientele that they use for their business by the name of Nuview marketing, and they are unethical unprofessional and did not allow me to even talk while on the phone with them when telling them my concerns they should never be in business and if I could have, I wouldve put a zero star review, but the system did not allow me, but this company needs to be shut down because the company should have all around good service and including customer service service as well because that is the most important when it comes to a great company because we are the only reason they are in business - I asked for a manager and they refused to do so and when finally did, he seemed more unfit than the original representative I was speaking too. He had no personality, no empathy and you could tell he simply did not care about my situation at all or my concerns because I thought point they had already gotten my money and thats said while we were on the phone I just hope this will help anyone not have to experience the same abuse Ive received as a customer from a company that that they were helping me in the beginning

Be careful when it comes time to renew

  I go back and forth between Town Square Energy and my grid operator (National Grid) as my electricity supplier depending on which company is offering the best rate. Town Square's $0 cancellation policy makes it possible to do this with no penalty. However, there's typically a two-month lag before any change you request takes effect. One sketchy practice of Town Square is that if you don't explicitly renew your contract when its scheduled to expire, they'll continue to supply your electricity but at a *much* higher rate. In other words, if you take no action, your monthly bill will suddenly increase by 50% or more when your low-rate Town Square contract expires. The company says they send a written notice to customers that it's time to renew (or cancel) two months prior to the contract expiration date, but I never received any such notice, and apparently other customers don't either. So it's incumbent upon the customer to keep track of his/her contract status and decide whether to renew or cancel at least two months before it expires. Otherwise, I think Town Square Energy is a good alternative electricity supplier with rates that often (but not always) beat those offered by your local grid operator.

No Notification Of Rate Change

  They claim the sent a expiration notice of my term. I never received one or call or email. They jumped my rate from 13 cents to 30 cents. They claim it was the fault of Postal Service. Read BBB complaints. Many with the same issue, They wanted me to renew for 12 months at 13 cents with no credit for the unannounced rate hike. I had to go back to my original supplier due to that issue.

Poor customer service

  We switched to Town Square in winter of 2023. They offered a lower rate in summer 2023, so we applied for their new program. They delayed moving us to the newer and lower cost program for months. This was confirmed by Eversource saying Town Square delayed contracting Eversource about the rate change. This is not ethical. They delayed changing us to their lower rate program so that they could keep charging us the higher rate.

2 months, still waiting for my rate to change, no one answers the phone

  I changed my plan on March 5, now on May 26 the new rate still has not kicked in. The company is in Arizona, but I call all day long and get a "outside business hours" voicemail, and no one calls me back.

  There customer service is wonderful. I signed on a few months ago and they lowered their rates and when I called to see if I could get the lower rate, they changed it no questions. Such better rates than National Grid... Currently sitting at $12.27/kwh compared to National Grids $33/kwh - HUGE SAVINGS. And yes, it works as I have had a couple bills come in and it reflects the correct pricing. THANK YOU for saving us money.

World changing experience!!! Due to Customer service representative Anisia Garcia

  I returned after years of not being with the company because of unxexpected 2022 life changes. Prior to speaking to Anisia Garcia I spoke with other representatives who put me on hold for like an hour who were rude and condescending to the point where I requested to speak to a Supervisor and they wouldn't comply even as I continued to insist on speaking to a different person.
The representative finally transferred me and I was already stressed, annoyed and inconvenienced for the time spent to rectify this issue. I was then greeted by Ms. Anisia Garcia to whom I asked respectfully if she was a Supervisor and she advised
me she was not but I explained my situation and she completely revamped my experience. Not only was she kind, professional and respectful she was unbelievably empathetic to my situation and that I why I decided to accept her guidance and expertise. She evaluated my position created and recommended solutions to benefit my family which allowed me to breathe when I was having such a difficult time with everyone else.

So I just want to thank MS.Anisia Garcia and would recommend that she get a raise increase or promotion to Trainer or Supervisor so that her abilities can be utilized to train and mold others in your company so people in the future can be able to breathe when they have no one else who understands their situation or position.

Amazon Gift Card Scam

  I got a StopYourShock.com coupon from ValPack for a $50 Amazon Gift Card. I selected the cheapest introductory rate with Town Square Energy and the website accepted the code and processed my enrollment with Town Square Energy. I received an acceptance email without mention of the Gift Card. I then emailed Town Square Energy and they said the plan I had selected did not qualify. This was not mentioned in the coupon ad and there was plenty of room to add it. Instead, the coupon referred customers to their website to see the full details and terms of service. Total scam and it has been going on for years. You can see older complaints.
