Just Energy was founded in 1997 in Canada and has grown into a massive energy conglomerate that service more than 1.8 million customers in North America. They also have the distinction of being the largest competitive green energy retailer in North America.
Just Energy is part of a group of companies that offer natural gas in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Quebec, British Columbia, New York, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and California, and electricity in Ontario, Alberta, New York, Massachusetts and Texas.
Just Energy has also expressed plans for launching retail service in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, D.C., Rhode Island, Georgia and Delaware.

They have a lot of offers, variable plus fixed 1 year up to 5 years. I ended up choosing a 1 year fixed with them, as I have a 1 year lease. Green was 2c more but I opted not to for the time being.
A friend told me about them. Although, I chose them because the price was great, got a bonus gift card, and they are a big name.
Customer service call was almost flawless, got put on hold for a few minutes while they checked credit. ”
“ I am not even a customer of Just Energy, but a person who previously was a tenant of this location was, so Just Energy is trying to get me to pay them $1000, took ERCOT, PUC, and Texas AG along with lawsuit to get them to back off. ”
“ I had originally given a poor review and wished the death of this company. I change my mind. I had a contract for 16.3/kwh when the rates were in the 20's 3 years ago. I finally decided I would pay the fee for ending the contract early and called them about 3 times and sent several emails asking how much the fee would be and then letting them know that I was going to another company for a better rate if they would not reduce my rate without penalty. They did! My rate went from 16.3 to 10.5 immediately, as I said after about a month of calling and emailing. Also, it wasn't as low as I requested. I wanted 9.0 which was what I saw as the average for the competitors. I am satisfied with JustEnergy at this point. ”

CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT AND WAS KEPT ON HOLD FOR 2 HOURS.
THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.
I RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE EVER SIGN UP WITH JUST ENERGY, THEY HAVE NO SERVICE. ”
“ i used to work for just energy and the whole company is useless. there are so many employees committing fraud its pitiful. if i could say anything nice about the company it would be that there 5 yr proiection plan is great but the green energy option raises your bill every month. ”
“ I do not have their service nor will I ever have their service.Their employees have harassed me and my family to switch with no regard for the fact I have told them multiple times that I am not interested. Why would I want to switch to a company that treats people like that? I was told they would continue the harassment until I switched. The Texas PUC along with the HCSO have been contacted about their abusive practices. If you switch that is your business I just want you to know the mentality of the company that you are dealing with. ”
“ I have been with this company for over 4 years and finally will change providers. They continously cash my electronic payments then state I didn't pay my bill. I then forward the 3 month history of them actually cashing my cheques and then they change my account status to current. Every month the check is cashed early from my bank and they send me a dissconnect notice every other month. One time they send a bill for over $13,500.00 for usage... My bill averages $250.00/month. It took multiple calls to get them to reverse the charge and correct the bill. They have terrible billing and customer service. This is the first time I have ever actually rated a company but my experience has been so bad for so long I hope a potential future customer can learn from my experience. I will also be forwarding a written complaint to the State energy board. I have never been late on a payment in 4 years but they have disconnected me once due to their own internal accounting issues. ”

up for 5 years, 2 years ago. No problem with
customer serv., or anything else. I would have

“ I am a customer of Just Energy and and employee as well. The only time my bills are high is around Christmas time with all the lights we have on. My contract is almost up and I will resign with them; not just becasue I work there but because they do save me money. If you are being over charged...look at your usage and multiple...do the math. It is not that complex. If you are not getting an actual meter read...then call centerpoint. complain to them since all Just Energy does is bill you for what is used. We don't service you or read your meters. Get Educated! ”
“ I am a customer and an Employee of Just Energy since 2008. I have also taken advantage of their green energy program. I am not writing on here to convince people to take this program, it truely speaks for itself. Although our NY market is relatively new and I have not seen the end of a 5 year program. I am aware of their high percentage of customers, North America Wide, that resign after their term ends. I'm sure most people realize that people are more likely to call and complain than they are to call and make a complement. I'm just not sure people are fully aware of what this company is capable of. ”

“ Signed on with US Energy Savings, with a fixed rate, and the first bill was wonderful, much lower than my previous provider. The next bill wasn't recognized, because it now said Just Energy, so I put it in my junk mail pile. When my lights were disconnected, I learned that Just Energy WAS my electric provider. I saw bills that increased monthly from $300 to $400 to $500 to $600, and cancelled. My final bill with the cancellation is now over $1200--over $800 of that is the cancellation fee. I am a single woman on partial hours and I just feel ROBBED by Just Energy. ”
“ I have been with Just Energy since May 2009 - I have found them cooperative and pleasant. They explained to me my alternatives. They have unfortunately been blamed for "Ercot" charges. They offer a bundled rate - their contract is very fair. I have read it. Those that complain do not realize how much the would be paying with their old supplier. “ I pray they go out of business so that I can get out of this contract. They held my bill in June and July 2009, a couple of the hottest months in Texas and I have to pay a total of $1500 in electrictiy bills. PUCTX writes to ask them for a deferred billing plan but I will be charged late fees because they held my bills!Also, they are now one of the more expensive providers. PUCTX as usual is very unhelpful and is not about consumer protection. I pray JustEnergy/USEnergy goes out of business so I can choose a provider at a better rate. Of course, with them charging nearly 8 cents more per kwh, they can afford to stay in business longer than most. ”
