Wouldn't set up my new apt. after being a year long customer

(1.2 / 5)

I switched to Green Mountain in college with my roommate with no problems. We were both on the account but after moving, they would not set up my new apt. with electricity because they had "no payment history with me." Ya right!!! I paid with my own checks for over a year! They said I was not the main account holder so I need to submit previously paid electric bills from another provider. What? you want me to switch to someone else then change back? What? F. that. Obviously they don't want my business now so I won't give it to them later. Be cautious of their atrocious customer service that rejected my business.

Beware and Be advised to be screwed

(1.2 / 5)

May have clean air but not cheap prices. Just do not sign up for this company because if you do you're a fool. I own a three bedroom house no kids just me and my husband and two dogs average cost about $400 to $500 a month.

not so green

(1.2 / 5)

After trying to do the green thing, we recieved a 750.00 electric bill. This was 450.00 over our norm. After going back and forth with G.M. and Oncor no one would do anything. Come to find out, we had a electrical surge, which neither co. wanted to accept blame. So you decide if you want to become Green but I am keeping my green in my pocket. P.S. We also caught them not reading the meter, but guessing our usage. This was fun when we went out of town and turned to house off....

Poor service

(1.1 / 5)

When the website goes down, you can't make a payment. Customer services does not believe you. You end up having to make add the 5.95 fee, or wait and pay some other time. This happened to me twice, the second of which I was unable to pay later because I was going out of town.

Not worth it!

(1.1 / 5)

They make it so difficult to sign up for online and other payment options and they have terrible customer service. Also, it is extremely difficult to get in touch with them via telephone. You are put on automatic hold and then it hangs up on you.

Green Mountain - Big Mistake

(1.1 / 5)

I switched from Gexa to GME at a booth in HEB and saw advertised online, a rate that was 3.3 cents/kwh and I was told I would be charged to change plans. My bill was double from $193 to $396 and they were only willing to accept half before due date and other half the next week. I know green energy is good, but also keeping green in my pocked is good too.

High prices do not reflect the electricity market or REC market prices. If you want to buy renewable energy you can pay a lot less.

green mountain terrible service

(1.1 / 5)

This company double-charged my residence for a break contact fee
when we did not break the contact. TXU took it upon themselves to
take over our service and it has taken several phone calls and several
months to get this situation worked out. We are still being charged for
deposits that we did not incur with our permission.
If we had the funds to get off the grid, we would not hesitate to do this.
With technology today, no one should have to pay an electric bill at all.

2x kWh Cost

(1 / 5)

I met a representative at a local grocery store. I had luck saving money on my energy bill prior with other companies so I gave them a shot. The Representative talked a good talk and had data to back up what he was selling. The papers showed all the odd ball charges imposed by Grid, which amounted up to rough 50 some odd dollars. I had inquired about the cost of the kWh as this and the delivery fees due to attenuation over distance are what really cost us in the long run. I had been assured that the price per kWh would not change. So to my surprise getting a 550 electrical bill as opposed to the 50ish dollars off of the original bills which usually came in around $180 to $250 per month. If I was saving dollars we should have seen $130 to $200 not $550.
National Grids going rate is .06X cents per kWh in my service area, Green Mountain is charging me .14 cents per kWh in my service area.
I will be filling a complaint with my states Public Service Commission and the Hotline for Competitive Energy Complaints. Twice the cost is not competitive.

Green Mountain Energy Is Scamming Me

(1 / 5)

I have sent a numerous amount of emails to Green Mountain and support@greenmountain.com, ALL HAVE BEEN IGNORED!

I have been receiving usage reports on Monday evenings for the last 6 years.

I have NOT received a usage report from Green Mountain Energy for the last two weeks!

June 30th - July 6th - NO REPORT SENT!

July 7th - July 13Th - NO REPORT SENT! Its July 15th and I have not even received my Bill for June. What is going on?

I keep track of what you are charging me! Do your job and send me the usage reports! What are you hiding? Should I start complaining about Green Mountain Energy to the proper authorities? I have sent over 10 emails to you in the last week, ALL of which have been ignored.

I need my usage reports for the last two weeks.

I called Green Mountain today (July 15th, 2024) and they REFUSED to give me my usage report for June 30th - July 6th. What are they hiding? What is going on with Green Mountain Energy? In the past 6 years I have NEVER experienced this problem.

At this moment I am so pissed off at Green Mountain Energy that I am thinking about changing providers.

High Rates, no communication

(1 / 5)

Green Mountian Energy sold us on renewable energy, but our generation service charge is now at .21700 while they offer .14200 on their website. This adds up to $80 monthly for our home electric bill. How is this fair?

(1 / 5)

Never heard of these people just appeared on my electric bill. Couple of weeks ago got notification from theses guys here about switching and do I know about this I said no and why would I give up the plan that I had to pay 250.00 with other supplier deactivate fee and there screw up. And I got to pay. No I will not recommend this company. Had to call the company to have them remove and would not refund 250 deactivate fee from another supplier or even give me a better price.

Switched service providers but they continued charging

(1 / 5)

We switched providers after Green Mountain notified us of a rate hike. They called and left a message saying they were cancelling our service, which is what we wanted. Two months later we're still getting billed with their service. When we called, they said they called to let us know, but we needed to call to confirm that we didn't want them anymore. Now we have a nearly $450 gas bill because their rates are so high and they didn't cancel when we requested it.

Scam- stay away

(1 / 5)

I just found out they have been increasing my rates steadily under a variable plan and i've been paying 30-40% more than i would have been under the regular coned plan. It's completely dishonest- I was not notified of any rate increases or what this variable plan is or that i was being switched to one. They have sent me numerous marketing emails, but didn't bother sending me anything to renew a fixed rate plan? BS. When i signed up i was told i would only pay a few dollars more per month. I have spent several hundred dollars- maybe more- than i needed to. Extremely perturbed by this dishonest hidden business practice- I'm owed at least a partial refund.

Rip off

(1 / 5)

My husband signed up for this thinking it would be cheaper for us in the long run. Usually my husband pays the electric bill but once the price was out of control I took over and actually taking the time to look at the bill on my own. Once realizing we were paying 2 to $300 more PER MONTH I went through the past year to see how much we have spent on "green mountain energy." It ended up being OVER 2k, on top of what we were getting charged from NYSEG. Once I figured that out I had my husband call and cancel immediately only for them to give him a hard time and say it will take 2 billing cycles. I really hope other people will take the time to read reviews before purchasing energy from this company. It is crazy in times like these a company would do this to people. Absolutely disgraceful.

Slacking on billing

(1 / 5)

I just received a collection notice from a small unpaid balance from June 2017. Its now June 3023. No mail, no emails, no calls just direct to collections 6 years later for a balance Im pretty sure I paid but am unable to see now. Someone might need to get their accounting department in order.

Solar bill charges

(1 / 5)

I have had green mountain for over a year and the billing has been inconsistent since I purchased my solar panels. I was recently disconnected for a bill totaling $64.00. I am still trying to figure out how that balance trickled close to 120 plus dollars. Please make it make sense. My original bill was $64.00 I got hit with four fees a disconnect fee $20.00 a late fee $7.00 a reconnect request fee $15.00 and a disconnect request fee $25.00 I still am not sure how Im even pulling electricity from the grid with my solar energy being pulled down at 99.7 percent . That in itself seems quite odd. I am buying an additional battery for my home. If I see any bill come from green mountain I know they are truly scamming. I should then in essence produce with my charge 15 percent over my needed amount even at my highest peek. Im thinking about everyone else. If you are hit with these fees and you are going through a difficult time how could you afford to get your electricity back on? Shame on you and your practices. Thats 60 plus dollars for a disconnect. I didnt even review my bill until almost two months later. The math isnt mathing. And when you call customer support they say oh it seems like you may be on the wrong plan wait a minute what does a plan have to do with how much electricity is being pulled from the grid ? I would have no bill or a 5.00 bill if I wasnt on the plan? Again stay away soon as this battery get installed Im switching energy companies. This is as shady as a nine dollar bill.
