Just Energy is part of a group of companies that offer natural gas in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Quebec, British Columbia, New York, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and California, and electricity in Ontario, Alberta, New York, Massachusetts and Texas.
Just Energy has also expressed plans for launching retail service in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, D.C., Rhode Island, Georgia and Delaware.
“ This past winter, when the nat. gas use was way high, Just Energy decided to charge 3 times what my local gas company was charging---somehow they got me into a variable rate account and RAPED me for over $700 for Jan and Feb. When I called them they explained that they were sorry. I agree that they truly are a sorry bunch.Just stay away from JUST ENERGY. ”
“ STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKED A$$HOLES! This was a good company until my contract ran out. I went from having at most a $140 energy bill in the hottest part of summer to $400-$500 bills no matter how little electricity I use. They even charged me for a six month old bill that was suspiciously added to a current one. They said the credit card company rejected the payment six months after I paid it and then threatened to cut off my electricity if I didn't pay immediately. Just Energy is nothing but a crooked company with rates that aren't the least bit competitive. ”
“ Just Energy is the most scandalous company I've ever dealt with. They pull up to our development with a van full of "representatives" and swarm the area, taking advantage of anyone they can. The man that came to our home scammed his way through through selling a 60 MONTH contract with rates higher than I've seen nearly anywhere under the guise that it was "such a great deal". He showed, on his phone, copies of other residents' bills to compare and demonstrate their "savings" while upselling their "green units" as a discountnot the additional fee it actually is! Buyers make sure to read every last detail on your agreements and know enough to do your homework. Their early termination fees are triple most places. They offer a less than 8 cent promotional rate online yet sell door to door residents on a 12.4 cent rate. The representative that came to our house left a fake number with us so we got screwed out of the three day grace period to cancel after trying to reach this guy to get some questions answered. HE was all smooth talk during the sell and coached to call to corporate to sign up. When I had the time, ( it took days of calls and waiting to the ONE number they provide for assistance ) and was finally able to reach their cancellation department, the woman told me if they hear a call being coached, they refuse the sign up. All I was offered was too bad lady, you signed the contract. It's pathetic these people come door to door in the evening, when people are worn out from a hard days work, tell you they're selling you one thing when the fine print says another. This man talked over the phone call the entire time so there was no way of knowing what you've really gotten yourself into until after the fact. This company is about one thing, SCREWING YOU OUT OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. If you want out, you've got to pay not only your monthly bill, but a disconnect fee in addition to $75 PER MONTH left on your contract With 59 months left on ours, that's a whole lot of money. I hope enough people will stand up against these unscrupulous tactics and get these money mongers shut down. ”

I signed up for services with Just energy but within the 3 business days that the law gives i cancelled and stayed with my previous provider. Just energy started charging from the day i signed up, even when my electricity hadnt even switched yet, and i know that because my provider at the time called me and asked me to stayed with them, and that they hadnt doen the switch yet. Well, for "3 days of service" with just eenergy, they were charging me $100. i called and they said they were not gonna debit my account and they will erase my bank info so that payment doesnt get processed just in case. Well, needless to say, my bank was deducted that amount. i called customer service several times and after 3 weeks of me calling and calling i saw my refund. however, the customer reps were rude, and because their mistake and postponing my credit to my bank account, i overdrawn my bank account. i have called customer service and ask to speak with a supervisor, and they are never available. they say they would call back, and they never do. i emailed customer service, and same thing, no response whatsoever.
it has been the worst experience. First, they charged for something that i didnt even used, then they say they will credit and will not deduct my bank and they do, and then they take forever to refund my money, and thats because i had to be calling and calling, putting up with rude people. i am just glad i didnt stayed with them, but it has costed me a lot of money just in overdraft fees because of that transaction and nvere getting my money back on time. ”
“ The key to getting with any company is doing your research, Just energy is one of the largest companies out . Regardless of ppls complaints in which every large company will have, they service over 5 million customers. Their a green company and also publicly traded so for everyone who gets on here trying to hop on the "Company Bashing Bandwagon" , stop the pointless complaining and get informed. Great company as far as I'm concerned ”
“ It is fairly obvious who works for the company or is it the company responding to so very many complaints by supplying false stories to make themselves look good? I had to deal with them under one of their earlier versions and it was horrible. Thought such a bad company had gone under until Just Energy showed up. Where I thought the old company was bad, they seem almost wonderful compared to this latest iteration. I can only say - STAY AWAY FROM THEM! ”
“ This company is by far the worst company i have ever had to deal with. When i first set up my electricity with them they came out when they were suppose to. Although two months had gone by with using their service and i had received my first bill. On that first bill was a charge for the "actual" first month and a late fee for not paying it, tacked on to the second months bill. After arguing with customer service for over an hour, nothing was resolved i still had to pay the late charge and two electric bills at once. I was using a month to month basis so i could cancel at any time. At the time i canceled i would still have one more bill coming, and i specifically gave the customer service representative my forwarding address. Months passed, years past and today i received a call from a collections agency saying i never paid my outstanding electric bill. Called Just energy's customer service once again and they confirmed to have my forwarding address but to have no record of the FINAL bill ever being sent there. Its companies like this that should go under. It is there responsibility to send their notifications not the clients. I do not suggest ever using this company EVER. ”
“ I believe I made a huge mistake when I switched over to this electric company. NEVER had any problems until this one. First of all...Do not believe their sales man DARRELL THOMPSON!! He will lie (very convincing) so you can switch...we were stupid to believe him! Now I just found out that I am getting charged extra for not being enrolled in auto pay when I go to Just Energy website and pay the bill. Also, if I am over a certain amount of kilowatts I am charged for that too. I am just gonna wait till my contract is over then I am done with this company!! Do not change to this company!! ”
“ I was told there was an activation fee of 100 dollars when I went to sign up for Just Energy's electricity. So when I declined they told me they would send me a 100 dollar gift card if I signed up today. So when I accepted they told me they would be sending it in the mail within 6 - 8 weeks. I thought..Cool I can just use that towards another bill. Apparently you have to send in your first bill within a month of activation and put an address on there as to where to send the gift card to. WHAT?! Just send it to the address on file? Isn't that HOME?! So them failing to tell me that resulted in me having to pay 100 extra dollars for absolutely nothing. I ended up having to move to another state and they told me I wouldn't be able to get my gift card anyways because I cancelled my services with them almost immediately after activating with them. I told them I would write a review online about how poor the communication and lack of effort on their end was in resolving any sort of issue. Not to mention the hold time was always 15+ minutes. NEVER again will I be using this company. They will be lucky to even get me to pay the final bill. ”
“ We had just energy for our business the kilowatts wasn't right as they said .we been their customer for 3 months and paid every month 200 even though the business was closed most of the time.this is a rip off company ..I'm very disappointed. ”

I have a 1700sq foot home. Paid $219 one month and $550 the next month. So I had everything checked I even changed my air filter and kept an eye on how we are using our electricity. So then I get another bill that's over $600 and I for sure know it should be lower than the previous of $550. I still haven't gotten my $100 gift card that u are supposed to get when u refer someone they are a bunch of scam artists!

“ Just Energy send people door to door with sepal to say save you money when they really just want to rip you off and get rich. Promising and good rate and then having another one on the contract they have you sign. SO BUYER BEWARE, Just Energy is nothing but a COARTIST! That $.5.99 cap, is not a cap, it is added to your monthly usages, so in my case I pay by the MCF. SO the monthly rate based on the exchange plus the 5.99 is the really almost double the rate.If You hear the word Just energy run AWAY. ”
“ Well where to start first just energy shut off my dads power to his business and his home! The bill had been payed on time and everything in fact just energy even admitted it was their fault! Today is the second day he still hasnt had power its winter my dad is 80 yrs old handicapped and in very bad health. Just energy swears they put a rush on it to be turnd back on but like i said its the second day and still nothing! Also my dads business is boat n rv storage so we also have 72 people who cant get to their storage facuilities because of this! You would think they would move faster since this was their fault and they admitt that too! ”
“ I had no problems with just energy. I think the key to this is to pay your bill on time. My reason for switching was due to price. I am of the opinion that no electrical provider has better electricity than the other, therefore my biggest concerns are pricing and service. A lot of problems can be alleviated by reading your EFL and asking questions about things that you do not understand. During my contract I found their reps. to be courteous and friendly. ”

I've reset my password HUNDREDS(obviously an exaggeration but a necessary one) of times and i call all the time and there is always just some excuse as to why it will not work. I hate paper bills as well and i guess telling them to stop sending those is virtually impossible. ”

I called the customer service; bad customer service; telling me they can't do nothing about it as it was setup by a 3rd party and I am stuck with them for 12 months. In today's day and age, they seem oblivious to technology, and every single person there is trapped in a box sized to house an M&M.
When you sign up for e-bill, you, do, in fact get a bill by email. You can do NOTHING with it, but you DO get the bill by email. There is NO link by which to pay your bill or schedule your bill. This, of course, would NOT matter, because when you DO go to their website to pay, or schedule, your bill, you CANNOT. Their "Wal Mart" 3rd party billing company does NOT receive the data to populate the bill until some 2-3 days AFTER you receive your notification. THEN, once you continue to check back for 2-3 days and are actually able to access your bill and schedule the payment, you must re-enter your payment information EVERY, SINGLE time.
For over a year I addressed these issues with them. "Add a link to the bill pay site in your email bill notification." We can't. "Delay the sending of the email bill notifications until AFTER the data has had time to populate your third party billing company's database." We can't. "At least retain my info so paying my bill is a simple click of the mouse?" We can't.
These may seem petty, but they are petty BOTH ways. Simple fixes to make the customer experience more pleasurable AND their cash flow more flowing. They CAN'T.

“ I switched to just energy from TXU when a door to door sales rep came to my door and explained how my price will not change for the next 5yrs and that it would be one charge only!!! When I got my bill it was exactly that! I'm too busy to be worried about what company to switch to and with this company I don't have to worry about it at all. LOVE IT! ”
