I was quite upset a few days ago when I received my natural gas monthly invoice and the AP&G rate was about twice what the utility company's rate would have been. It was the second month in a row of this drastic increase, and the heating season had just begun.
I vented my steam to the customer service representative who answered my call. I explained that I had called last month and noted this jump in my rate, far more than UGI's rate. Mr. John Neesham, my contact, immediately emphasized with my situation and talked me down with some research into what had happened last month. He noted that a change in my rate had been ordered, but postulated that the change had not taken effect because this past month's billing cycle had already begun. He gave me a personal guarantee that if the new, "lower-than-UGI's-rate" did not show up in next month's invoice AP&G would make it right with me even if I elected to exercise my right to cancel at that time. John is a gentleman with a calm demeanor, and is well suited for his customer service position. As a former hospital administrator I know these qualities work best in dealing with the public, and AP&G is fortunate to have Mr. Neesham representing them. |

| Im only writing the review to shoutout the customer service representative that helped me in that department. The companies rates department is absolutely rude. I called to cancel and the agent couldnt sell me on a renewal and got upset and hung up the phone in a rude manner. Absolutely disgusting the attitude that was displayed over the phone. They gave me no confirmation number or any indication that the cancellation process has started. I called back and spoke to a WONDERFUL agent named Daniele G. Not only was she astonishingly pleasant to work with, she addressed my cancellation inquiry without hesitation and with a positive attitude. If you are in management please treat this employee as if they are a good star in the classroom. She deserves to be the example of customer care at this company and deserves more additions to her paycheck. I would even leave a tip if I could. Other than that, the intro rate was good. I would do it again in the future. | |||

They'll re-enroll you after you cancel with them with 3x rates of other companies
| AP&G talked me into continuing my contract after it expired, promising they would work to be competitive to keep my business. After the next billing, their rates were 2x greater on electricity, so I switched to another company. The next month I got a $700+ bill with them still as my supplier, even though I had switched. I called the company I switched to and was told that AP&G canceled with them and re-enrolled me...without my permission. AP&G issued a partial refund, but I won't be returning to them, as this business practice is unethical. | |||

| Got their coverage because their price was the best. Was told 3-5 days for transfer but ended up being 10 days (I know ppl has some to do with that so I dont blame them entirely but they should warn potential customers). After enrolling I am getting frequent sales texts that were manipulative such as there is an update to your account please call us. After getting them on the phone they informed me the alert was so they could do a rushed and pushy sales call for when my plan is up. When I told them the new price was more than my old provider and I wouldnt be interested Kayla pretty much hangs up the phone in rude fashion. If going with AP&G for their great short term deals be sure to set your phone to alert you when to switch back! | |||

| AP&G starts out with a lower rate after 3 months, its doubled, in the 4th month its almost tripled! When I call, they quickly offer to lower back to the initial rate if I sign up again if they can offer this so quickly, you know they are a shady organization. Double rate without communication

I had a very disappointing experience with American Power & Gas. Without any clear communication or advance notice, they doubled my rate. As a result, my monthly bill jumped from $440 to nearly $900. That kind of increase is unacceptable, especially without transparent notification or explanation. Customers deserve clear, proactive communication about major rate changes so they can make informed decisions. This experience felt unfair and financially harmful.

| We shopped for competitive rates during the 2024/2025 winter. We found an amazing promotional rate with American power and gas, around 0.07 KH. Well, the promotion expired and the rate increased, which was expected. What wasn't expected was FIVE TIMES increase from the promotional rate. A call to cancel was immediately placed but unfortunately it was Friday and after hours when we attempted to contact. A message was sent on the site as well as a separate e-mail to request so we'll see how that works. My intention is to call Monday, and if no resolution to contact PP&L directly. Very surprised of the cost especially considering the statement of sustainable energy. | |||

Be Careful - Predatory Customer Service

I shop for rates a lot. My contract was running down and they offered me rates HIGHER than the default rate. When i told them i would rather cancel their service and return to the default rate (saving 30%) they told me "don't do that, PPL is just going to raise that rate in june and you'll be sorry". They also pointed out if i did NOT accept the 30% higher rate, I would go into a true variable rate and "My bill be very high and i don't want that"
It took 10 seconds to get a customer service rep. When i stated "OK I would like to cancel and get the PPL default rate" - i was put into a 15 minute hold queue and forced to leave a message. Everything about this interaction was meant to frustrate me and bully me into paying them a higher rate. I called PPL - outside of the 35 min hold time they were amazing. Once i confirmed I gave them permission - they cancelled the supplier for me and put me back on the default rate. In addition they ALSO encouraged me "Please keep shopping for better rates, we likely don't offer the best". And of course I will be shopping again - but never again with APG. AVOID |

Bizarre Experience The "2-year fixed, month to month" deal from AEP!

On January 27, 2023, I received an unsolicited marketing call from American Power & Gas (AEP) offering me an electric rate of 9.194 cents per kw. in answer to my question, I was told that the rate was fixed for 2 years. For my records, I documented the date, the rate and the fact it was 2 -year fixed. on the electric bill. I though it was a good deal and I told the customer service rep to sign me up. and documented the details of the agreement on the January Peco bill. On January 10, 2024, my wife was reviewing the utility expenses for the year to find out rhat AEP has raised the price from 9.17 cents in January to 23.271 cents per KW in December and the additional charges over the year were $782.35!!! I thought it was a mistake, so I called customer service and after explaining the situation, the AEP customer Service Rep said: "Yes. the rate is 2-year fixed, month to month". My immediate response was: "What does that mean???? !!!!!"
I was promised to receive a payment of $100 and the issue was elevated to the manager I did not receive the $100 and I called 3 times since 1/10 and as yet no response!!! I am totally disappointed with AEP unethical marketing and I do not know how they are still in business. Was it a zealous rep who wanted to make their quota or a mistake? Anyway, I will not deal with AEP anymore and next time I will ask the customer rep calling to send me an agreement in writing before signing up. Once bitten, twice shy! |

| American Power and Gas is a PREDATORY company that SCAMS their customers. They will TRIPLE your rate with NO NOTICE. Report this company to the Better Business Bureau. Its very similar to the subprime mortgage crisis. They are CORRUPT and UNETHICAL. Email them and demand that they notify their customers of rate increases (they would go out of business if they had to do this). Being the owner of this company, I will not do business with anyone that is this disrespectful. I did call him back and told him that he has the ability to call the 2 ladies back and apologize for being an ass. He hung up on me. | Got a letter in the mail from PECO confirming my transfer to this company as my business's electric provider. Only hitch is - I never even spoke with anyone from the company, let alone gave permission for them to switch me. I never even listen to sales pitches about switching. So I had to waste my morning calling PECO to switch me back and then calling All American Power & Gas to make sure they weren't going to charge me a cancellation fee for the service I never agreed to. When I asked the woman at AAPG customer service if she could tell me who allegedly gave them permission to switch my provider (I run a small business, I'm the only employee) she said she didn't have access to that information, "due to privacy concerns." Complete scam. | |||

And, of course, the letter came the same day the switch went into effect. PECO switched me back to my previous supplier when I called them, but now I'm trying to contact All American Power and Gas to make sure they don't try to scam a cancellation fee from me and their phone lines are cutting in and out every time I call. This company signed my business up without m permission.
| I got a letter from Peco saying I switched to All American Power and Gas. I most certainly did not. Not only did they charge me a higher rate but the lady was rude in answering my questions on how this happened. Her answer was must have been a clerical error in the system. I highly doubt that given the reviewer above me also had the same thing happen to their business account. These companies are incredibly shady and after my previous experience with doing this vowed I would never do it again. When asked who I can report this to she told me she didn't know who regulates them and when I try to log a formal complaint on the PApowerswitch site none of the options for logging a complaint fit. I guess this why they can continue to get away with this stuff. | |||

| Got suckered into the 0.0999/kwh pricing only for the second month to be 0.1239, third month is 0.17084, and fourth month was 0.197632. Nearly double the electric rate in just a few months. While the "General supplier" option was still offering 0.0999 from their end. Do not fall for any of their sign up offers, or you will also end up losing hundreds of dollars to this company as I did. | |||

| APG will only give you a rebate of 25% on just the average monthly cost. Not 25% on the total you've paid over 12 months. I wanted my time sticking around with them for 12 months to find this out. | |||
