My bill was out of sight but with this service it has become much more manageable. Thank you American Power and Gas.

I was quite upset a few days ago when I received my natural gas monthly invoice and the AP&G rate was about twice what the utility company's rate would have been. It was the second month in a row of this drastic increase, and the heating season had just begun.
I vented my steam to the customer service representative who answered my call. I explained that I had called last month and noted this jump in my rate, far more than UGI's rate. Mr. John Neesham, my contact, immediately emphasized with my situation and talked me down with some research into what had happened last month. He noted that a change in my rate had been ordered, but postulated that the change had not taken effect because this past month's billing cycle had already begun. He gave me a personal guarantee that if the new, "lower-than-UGI's-rate" did not show up in next month's invoice AP&G would make it right with me even if I elected to exercise my right to cancel at that time.
John is a gentleman with a calm demeanor, and is well suited for his customer service position. As a former hospital administrator I know these qualities work best in dealing with the public, and AP&G is fortunate to have Mr. Neesham representing them.

Charles in customer service was a great help. Regulate rewards program could be improved with better reward items like printed magazine subscriptions. I didnt realize a contract I have with my current supplier wasnt up and they were going to charge me a cancellation fee and John said that APG would send me a reimbursement check to keep me with my new contract with APG. So, I did as he said and sent the email. We will see. I am however, concerned about what will happen after the month introductory rate expires. Im not sure if this company will be competitive prices.

Being on a fixed income I had to find a better price. My bills are half of what I was paying. I'm one happy customer.

I wrote May 31, 2025 with frustration regarding my bill following my introductory pricing expiration. Today, 6/2/25 I placed a call to cancel service. After reading other reviews here I was expecting the worse but the service I received was exceptional. The associate I worked with, Angel x7308, was very attentive to my concerns. He was kind, patient, understanding and informative. He explained options and proceeded as I requested with nothing short of the upmost kindness.

I attempted to change from my default provider to American Power and gas 2-3 months ago. I have been checking every bill diligently, but have been unable to determine if the change ever went through. If it did, I have to provide high marks for seamlessness. But I dont know if it did.

Everything is great when you sign up and you're told your incredibly low variable rate will fluctuate but usually varies around the rate they advertise. SUPRISE - at month two.... 50% increase in supply charge. At no point during the sign up was I told this was an "introductory" rate and that successive months could get a HUGE up-tick. Looks like this is their business practice. Lure you in, then bank on you never looking at your bill and what they actually charge after month 1. The fact that they refunded me the difference immediately with no questions tells me this is a VERY common occurrence. I'll be looking for another supplier.

bill was advertised- at 4.79 .. first bill was 7.29 . i even received a letter in the mail bill was going to be 4.79, seriously thinking about going to a lower company.

Setting things up was a easy and simple process, but the rewards that were supposedly sent to me as a 'welcome' gesture I've never received 3 months lateras of today. Every time I contact customer service, nothing gets resolved.

Charged $333 the first month. Do not know why. Can not get any one on the phone. No call back after they said they would. Not gong to reccomend them, until they explain.

Got their coverage because their price was the best. Was told 3-5 days for transfer but ended up being 10 days (I know ppl has some to do with that so I dont blame them entirely but they should warn potential customers). After enrolling I am getting frequent sales texts that were manipulative such as there is an update to your account please call us. After getting them on the phone they informed me the alert was so they could do a rushed and pushy sales call for when my plan is up. When I told them the new price was more than my old provider and I wouldnt be interested Kayla pretty much hangs up the phone in rude fashion. If going with AP&G for their great short term deals be sure to set your phone to alert you when to switch back!

I thought this electric company was a better deal but it ended much more expensive than thought. I had to go back to my previous supplier.

Unsolicited phone call from this company, aggressive salesperson convinced me to switch to this company...falsely promised much cheaper rates. Not true, I am now paying 3x more than with original supplier National Grid in upstate. So far has cost me $312 more than I Was paying before @ .2226/KWH compared to National Grid @ .0715/KWH. (July to Aug 2023) with no change in my usage. I canceled and switched back, but 4 months later, still paying double than what I was before switch....takes several billing cycles to get them off...still waiting

i used the tty relay to call them and they just hung up on me so i dont know what company this new business has been using and i need to install it and i will not use national grid due to rip offs.

They will offer you a low rate, then keep raising their rate until it is well above market value and make it very hard to get out of it.

Took 4 months to change electric service and after changing service cost more than $50 monthly than National Grid. Cancelled service in January and still being billed for their service 3 months later. NYS needs to stop encouraging the switch to other of service providers!

I switched to American Power & gas in February, was issued a confirmation code, but as of this date (4/23/24), no change appears on my O&R statement.

I am used to getting calls from electric providers wanting me to switch, most are willing to end the call when I say no once or twice.
Today I received a call from American Power and Gas and after saying I wasn't interested 3 times to no avail I hung up on him. You would think it would be done but no he called back not one more time but twice and I hung up on him twice more. At this point they could offer me electric service for one penny per kilowat and I wouldn't be interested. This is no way to attract customers.

This company showed rates at .08 /kw, when the bill showed up it was .209, completely ridiculous, could not switch fast enough.

Absoute scam. Offered savings to current rate. By three months in the rate is 3x or more than the default service rate. And cancelling is near impossible and takes a couple months. DO NOT LET THEM SCAM YOU! They bank on you not looking at the rates on your bill to massively overcharge you.

My 92 year old mother bought into buying power from these people and I added up the extra money she paid over the last 18 months and it is around $2400! Their kWh rate has been at 2 or three times the cost of buying it from her local electric company. We have cancelled and they are giving her back $192 on the list bill, but we are still not happy! They preyed on my old mother.

They hook you with a low price then charge you double the going rate after 30 days. Try to call an cancel and youre on hold for days.

My bill jumped from $4mcf to $14mcf without warning. On their website you can sign up for a plan that is $5per mcf at this moment but they are charging customers almost triple that amount

Since they roped me in, I have heard nothing from them and can't even find a log in outside of their "rewards" program. My bill has gone up and I just want to be done with them.

I don't really have an experience. Nobody's ever reached out. Nobody's ever called. I was supposed to get a discount credit. Never got that.So i'm switching companies, but don't forget when you switch.Whatever you have saved up doesn't go with you.So it's better to switch and win or once everything's used up

I was switched to this supplier without my knowledge or approval. I am waiting on someone to contact me on this matter and I require a refund. I did not provide my account number o this because im afraid you will switch my service again.

Being the owner of this company, I will not do business with anyone that is this disrespectful. I did call him back and told him that he has the ability to call the 2 ladies back and apologize for being an ass. He hung up on me. American Power and Gas is a PREDATORY company that SCAMS their customers. They will TRIPLE your rate with NO NOTICE. Report this company to the Better Business Bureau. Its very similar to the subprime mortgage crisis. They are CORRUPT and UNETHICAL. Email them and demand that they notify their customers of rate increases (they would go out of business if they had to do this). I was told that their price would be competitive when I switched to them from ppl. Within a couple of months they were charging me almost double ppls price!!! Dont understand why they are even in business. A complete ripoff!!!

On January 27, 2023, I received an unsolicited marketing call from American Power & Gas (AEP) offering me an electric rate of 9.194 cents per kw. in answer to my question, I was told that the rate was fixed for 2 years. For my records, I documented the date, the rate and the fact it was 2 -year fixed. on the electric bill. I though it was a good deal and I told the customer service rep to sign me up. and documented the details of the agreement on the January Peco bill. On January 10, 2024, my wife was reviewing the utility expenses for the year to find out rhat AEP has raised the price from 9.17 cents in January to 23.271 cents per KW in December and the additional charges over the year were $782.35!!! I thought it was a mistake, so I called customer service and after explaining the situation, the AEP customer Service Rep said: "Yes. the rate is 2-year fixed, month to month". My immediate response was: "What does that mean???? !!!!!"
I was promised to receive a payment of $100 and the issue was elevated to the manager I did not receive the $100 and I called 3 times since 1/10 and as yet no response!!!
I am totally disappointed with AEP unethical marketing and I do not know how they are still in business. Was it a zealous rep who wanted to make their quota or a mistake? Anyway, I will not deal with AEP anymore and next time I will ask the customer rep calling to send me an agreement in writing before signing up. Once bitten, twice shy!

Close to the end of my term I had a sales agent reach out who was quite rude. She was very pushy trying to get me to signup for a yearlong averaged contract. She would only give me the monthly premium and would not give me a per kwh price and even started to low key insult me asking if my problem was if I just couldn't afford things.. nice.

Entice you with a good 3 month deal then rope you into a 1 year contract higher than the base rate. I pay double what I did without them. Predatory scum.

This company is absolutely horrible. After an introductory rate they where charging more than double per KW from providers.
They also changed my account without my knowledge or consent but with the consent if some else who lived in my household and whose name was not on the bill! I will be contacting the better business bourogh immediately.

I shop for rates a lot. My contract was running down and they offered me rates HIGHER than the default rate. When i told them i would rather cancel their service and return to the default rate (saving 30%) they told me "don't do that, PPL is just going to raise that rate in june and you'll be sorry". They also pointed out if i did NOT accept the 30% higher rate, I would go into a true variable rate and "My bill be very high and i don't want that"

It took 10 seconds to get a customer service rep. When i stated "OK I would like to cancel and get the PPL default rate" - i was put into a 15 minute hold queue and forced to leave a message.

Everything about this interaction was meant to frustrate me and bully me into paying them a higher rate.

I called PPL - outside of the 35 min hold time they were amazing. Once i confirmed I gave them permission - they cancelled the supplier for me and put me back on the default rate. In addition they ALSO encouraged me "Please keep shopping for better rates, we likely don't offer the best".

And of course I will be shopping again - but never again with APG.

They changed me to a flat rate what was $0.245798 kHr. Got hit with a huge bill. Had to cancel quickly.

We shopped for competitive rates during the 2024/2025 winter. We found an amazing promotional rate with American power and gas, around 0.07 KH. Well, the promotion expired and the rate increased, which was expected. What wasn't expected was FIVE TIMES increase from the promotional rate. A call to cancel was immediately placed but unfortunately it was Friday and after hours when we attempted to contact. A message was sent on the site as well as a separate e-mail to request so we'll see how that works. My intention is to call Monday, and if no resolution to contact PP&L directly. Very surprised of the cost especially considering the statement of sustainable energy.

Beware of this servicer. I called and canceled by phone. Two bills later, they still haven't canceled my contract with them and increased the price by about 22 cents per kwh.

There lured me in with a great price but a few months later I was paying THREE TIMES the price to compare. Do not even think about changing to AP&G.

Careful of these guys! They lure you in with a great var. price promising consistent prices if the commodity price remains the same. They state a ridiculous retention rate (95%+) of new customers due to stable pricing. My pricing went from 0.087 cent per KW to .297047 cent per KW....almost tripling my energy costs!

Called customer service to discuss why my supply rate almost doubled and the woman told me she would connect me to the right department disconnected from me on a call. Clearly on my bill states call this number for questions about my charges and she just didnt want to deal with me. I never signed up for a variable rate and how can you justify going from a .0969 rate in December to .1209 in January and now .2247 for February. Highway robbery!!! Ridiculous!!!!! I had no warning whatsoever there was to be any increases! I have already switched suppliers!

I had a very disappointing experience with American Power & Gas. Without any clear communication or advance notice, they doubled my rate. As a result, my monthly bill jumped from $440 to nearly $900.
