Spooky DLC Rates Coming This Winter
If this summer’s electric bills gave you a fright, then you’re going to scream when you see these PTC rates! PECO and FirstEnergy have already announced they’re raising their rates for this winter. And it looks like DLC is hopping on the broom with them. Starting December 1, 2025, the DLC Price to Compare rates are going up! And with the recent PJM auction results, these higher rates could haunt us well into the summer. However there’s still time to trick-or-treat for cheap electricity. And these long term plans in Pittsburgh are all treat and no trick!
Cheap Electric Plans – All Treat, No Trick
The new DLC PTC rate hasn’t been finalized yet, but it’s predicted to be 13.75 cents per kWh. So, assuming the average PA home uses 854 kWh a month, the DLC PTC supply charge will cost around $117.43 per month. That’s scary! But you can exorcise high PTC rates with a 12 month fixed rate plan.
First up, we have the cheapest 12 month rate available with no monthly charges. The Clear Guarentee 12 plan from Clearview Energy comes in at a low of 13 cents per kWh. So, you’re monthly energy supply bill would be around $111.02 a month. Plus, no monthly charges to spook you. Just be aware of the $150 early cancellation fee.
However if you’re hunting for a green energy plan, we have just the treat for you. The Verde Energy Clean Power 12 plan is 13.8 cents per kWh. That means your monthly supply charge will run about $117.85. It’s slightly higher than our predicted PTC rate, but the real rate could be higher. This plan is supported 100% by renewable energy through RECs. And, as a bonus, there are no ghastly monthly charges or early termination fees. So this plan is really something to howl about because you get plenty of flexibility — in case of sudden life changes!
Finally, we have a plan from Frontier Utilities with a tricky twist. Their PA Frontier Secure Power 12 plan comes in at 12.5 cents per kWh. However, there is a $9.95 monthly fee, bringing your estimated monthly energy supply bill to $116.70. That’s still cheaper than the estimated PTC rate. Additionally, there’s no early termination fees to come back and bite you.
Electricity Plans to Scare Away High Bills
It’s important to remember that the new DLC PTC rates expire on May 31, 2026. This will be right before the PJM auction prices kick in. So, even if a plan is a little higher right now than the PTC rate this December, it will likely be much cheaper than those coming in June, 2026.
