Shop and Save on PECO Electricity
This past summer’s PJM capacity auction results mean we’re going to see rate hikes this June. And, thanks in part to Winter Storm Fern, natural gas rates are rising too. Currently the EIA is predicting natural gas rates could rise into next year, further dricing up prices. Which makes now the perfect time to shop the cheapest electric plans and save. And if you’re a PECO electricity customer, we have several great electricity plans for you!
Best Long Term PECO Electricity Plans
The current PECO PTC rate is 11.024 ¢ per kWh. So, assuming the average monthly electricity usage is about 854 kWh, that’s around $94 a month for the supply charge alone. But we have several PECO electricity plans that will help you save money. And with different term lengths to fit your needs.
First up, the Electric 12 Month Fixed Rate WITH MRC plan from Public Power, is our second cheapest available rate. And because it is a 12 month rate, it will not change this summer, unlike PECO. Coming in at a low of 10.1 cents per kWh, the estimated monthly supply charge runs about $86. The plan does come with a flat $14.95 monthly charge and there is a $50 early cancellation fee. If you want a plan you can stick with for the year, this is the one.
And from our gold rated provider Constellation, we have the 8 Month Home Power Plan. The 8 Month Home Power Plan is 13.3 cents per kWh, bringing your monthly energy supply costs to around $113. There is a $150 termination fee to consider, but no monthly charges to worry about!
Short Term PECO Plans for You
However, if you’re renting or planning a move later this year, you might need a shorter term length. And if so, we’ve got you covered. For instance, we have the Xoom Energy SureLock 6 plan. This plan comes in at 10.9 cents per kWh, so energy supply costs will run about $93 per month. There’s also no extra monthly charges. Moreover, through their XoomXtras rewards program, you can earn points to spend on anything from gift cards to vacation stays that make up for the higher rate. There is also is an early termination fee of $55 to bear in mind. Plus, this plan would be great to get you through the summer, so you can shop again in fall when prices tend to drop.
And if you need something even shorter, consider Think Energy. Their Think Basic 3 plan comes in at 9.7 cents per kWh, running you about $83 a month in energy supply costs. And, in addition to having no monthly charges or early termination fees, Think Energy offers a referral program. Their Free Energy Club offers rebates for referring friends to the company, earning you a discount on your bill.
