However, that rate expires on May 31, 2026. And as a result, the PTC rate that follows will include the higher prices from last summer’s PJM capacity auction. If the PTC jumps just 2 cents per kWh on June 1 like it did last year, the average monthly supply charge would go up to nearly $128.00.
So, while some plans we recommend may have rates that are a little higher than the PTC rate, they will likely be much cheaper than those starting on June 1. But if you’re looking for clean energy, check out their Secure Green Choice 12 plan! It’s only 13.9 cents per kWh, or an estimated monthly energy supply costs of $118.
Last but not least, if you want the best bang for your buck look no further than the Xoom Energy. They have two great plans, both with low rates. First is their SureLock 12 plan. This basic plan comes in at 13.0 cents per kWh, so energy supply costs will run about $111 per month. However if you’re in the market for a green plan, the SimpleClean 12 is only slightly more expensive. It comes in at 13.4 cents per kWh, so energy supply costs will run about $114 per month. Moreover, through their XoomXtras rewards program, you can earn points to spend on anything from gift cards to vacation stays that make up for the higher rate. Both plans have no monthly charges, but there is an early termination fee of $110 to bear in mind.
