Evil company
“ I made a payment arrangement last month and was told to make my first payment when I received my next bill. Only for that arrangement to be defaulted 2 weeks later and I receive another shut off notice. Really evil trick this company played on me. Never even had a chance to make the 1st payment. No now my children and I will be without heat lights and hot water. When I could have made the payment the day I made the arrangement. I guess they figured it would be helpful to notify me of the change only when its too late to do anything. I just received the first bill since the arrangement was made last Thursday the 25. I received my shut off notice on the 28th. This place just does whatever it wants. They hold you accountable for information only they know. They give peco energy classes apparently they dont have to give you all the details and can take your money thats due under false information about what is happening. I feel robbed and lied to. Why offer me options that I dont have. ”

BAIT & SWITCH! > 0 STARS!!!
“ AEP Energy emailed me with an offer of $.074 per kilowatt hour. I attempted to enroll and was told my account with PECO didn't exist. That is because I am with PP&L and no mistake on my part was made with enrolling properly. I then was told the new rate would be $.099. Many other cheaper options!!! FRAUD!!!! ”

Buyer Beware!!
“ I used Town Square Energy for several years. During the ridiculous rate increase and fees by the State of Connecticut's PURA , TSE took full advantage, and without notice, increased the supply rate by four times the original agreed upon rate. When I called to enroll in their then current promotional rate which was much lower, they denied us. I tried to cancel and they said it would take two billing cycles which is a flat out lie. I called ES and they explained how easy it was to switch out of TSE which took immediate effect. Stay away from this company - I find their price gouging to be an unfair business practice! ”

SCAM ARTISTS
“
Last month we had a young man named Nixon come up to our door to give us a sales pitch. My husband had a job like this in 2020 and since then we've taken pity on sales people and like to hear them out, even if we don't buy anything.
He gave us the pitch and it seemed interesting, but we wanted to look into it ourselves. We said multiple times "We do not want to buy anything today. We do not want to sign up right now." and he confirmed multiple times "No, this is not signing up, it's just information. Someone will contact you to follow up in a few days and if you want to sign up you do it then." We have him on camera saying this.
Well, apparently he lied!! We decided to not go forward with Direct Energy and to stick with the company we already had. It had been a week and I hadn't gotten a call so I decided to reach out and ask them to take us off their call list. Well to my surprise, the lady on the phone said I was already a customer!!!! They went behind our back and signed us up anyway without our consent!
So now we've spent the past two weeks in a dunning and I don't even know who is supplying our electricity and this is going to ROYALLY screw up our light bill and in this economy, that is not an easy thing to handle right now. So far, everyone on their end has been helpful in working with us to return us to our original contract at our old company, but the fact that Nixon lied to our faces on our own property ON CAMERA and signed us up without our knowledge or consent leaves a HORRIBLE taste in my mouth. Based on that alone, I will never sign up with Direct Energy and I will never recommend them to anyone either. They will take advantage of you to make a quick buck on commission. ”
