did not fulfill contract
“ Signed up with direct energy in January 2025 over the phone. Received my contract in the mail, but they never followed through. I contacted them and have simply asked them to honor my contract. I called on April 21 and sent direct energy a copy of the contract. One month later they still have not honored the contract. ”

Broken Promise and attempts to repeat if I renew
“ Smart Energy called me and offered me a $200 gift card if I stayed with the company at least six months. At the six month bill I sent it to the company showing Smart Energy as my supplier as I was asked to do. I never received the $200 gift card. Fast-forward to six months later when its time to renew, I called the company to inquire about upcoming rates. The service rep immediately looked at my account and said oh I see you havent got your $200 gift card. Then he said they would process the $200 gift card if I renew with the company. I flat out refused and told him I would not do business with a company who does not respect their customers enough to keep the promises they made. This was a very disappointing and underhanded interaction with smart energy. In addition they raised my rate during the contract. I will report this to PUCO. This unjust behavior needs to be exposed. ”

Poor Customer Service
“ After my husband died I removed his name from our account. Even though both names were on the bill, Duquesne Light said they had to close the account and reopen one in just my name. Then, there was money in the old account and they sent a check to my husband at our home. After spending much time on phone with their Customer Service, a supervisor said to scan and send a copy of my husband's death certificate. THEN, they said that they needed proof of payment from my account which was the same checking account number I had with my husband!!! AND the amount is automatically deducted each month!!! I hope to get my $125.00 soon but I will not hold my breath! ”

What a JOKE!
“ My natural gas defaulted to Provision as the provider. It's one of the most expensive plans on the market. My bill was $100 more than it was last winter, similar weather conditions, and LESS USAGE. I highly recommend everyone shop around and choose their own provider. ”

“ Beware of this servicer. I called and canceled by phone. Two bills later, they still haven't canceled my contract with them and increased the price by about 22 cents per kwh. ”

Another night without power due to AEP incompetence.

Not that they read this or give a damn about their costumers.
Tree branch falls, over half of Marietta without power. Power comes back on in our neighborhood hours later, then three hours later goes off again. New notice says now 3 Am until back on. The power goes out with these morons more in year then it did in 30 years with any other provider, then they are too stupid to ever get it back on, or fix in one area only screw it up in other. Hate AEP, wish I could choose anyone else, but when you have a monopoly. ”

Screwed me over
“ Have had my house 20 plus years always do Fixed, but somehow I ordered fixed but they signed me Variable, and i didn't catch it until six months in, wondering why my bill was averaging $50 a month higher, turns out they never honored the .079 cent rate instead jacked it up every month to 22 cent per kwh !!!! when the normal PECO rate was from 9 cents to 11 cents. Crazy Price Gouging!!! ”

I would love to live without PECO service if I can
“ One of the worst customer services I have ever encountered in my life! Your task will never be completed by incapable customer service agent. Also, you will be on hold atleast for 45 minutes before you can talk to real person. They would ask you to email the documents and promise response in 3-5 business days but you will never hear back from them until you finally give up and call them again to go through the process including minimum 45 minutes wait time. Then they will tell you what's missing and repeat the cycle. It will take 3 to 4 cycles like this before you get your problem resolved. So bad and unrealistic. And you are left without any other option. I hope I never have to deal with them, but I know I will have situations to call them again as I manage multiple rental properties and there is no alternative. ”
