PPL PTC Rate Increases
If you’re a PPL utility customer, you’re sure to freeze solid when you see the new PPL price to compare (PTC) rate. Starting December 1, 2021, the new PPL PTC rate will be 9.502 cents per kWh. That’s a whopping 25% increase in price from the current 7.544 cents per kWh rate. That’s why you need to switch plans now! And with natural gas prices on the rise, you’re going to want to save as much money as possible. But don’t worry. We’ve sorted lots of plans to help you find the best way to save. Start shopping now before PPL raises your price to compare!
Short Term Low Price Electricity Plan
If you want a short-term low rate plan, check out the NRG Electric Choice Plan 3 Month option. The plan has a 7.10 cents per kWh rate with no monthly recurring charges or early termination fee. This is an introductory rate option and the plan turns into a variable rate monthly plan at the end of three months. However, this may be a good choice if you want to lock in a low rate for just a few months before PPL raises the price to compare. When your three-month term is almost up, you can shop around for another option when rates may be lower.
12 Month Cheap Electricity Plan
You can also select a low-rate plan for a longer term. The Frontier Utilities PA Frontier Secure Power 12 plan locks in a 9.49 cents per kWh rate for 12 months and won’t increase during that time. This plan does have a $9.95 monthly recurring charge attached to it, so you should note this additional monthly cost. However, there is no early termination fee so you can switch plans whenever you like if a better rate rolls around. At the end of the 12 months, Frontier Utilities sends you two renewal notices. These notices state your plan continues on a monthly basis with a variable rate unless you choose a different plan.
