I hope no one thinks they are going to use this when they receive it.My card was used before i even received it.I now am waiting for ten days so they can check on the dispute. So maybe i might get it.

I had to write something about Smart Energy let people know how good they are. It was the first company to advertise about clean energy. Not only they but the offered a $100 Visa card if you stayed with over 3 months. I should be getting it this week. Now tell me isnt this a great company to do business with?

Everyone complaining about how they raise your fixed price. Everything you need to know is all given to you if you read the fine print. So as long as you read everything you can make the choice that if your fixed rate goes up is it worth the gift card money. Ppl on here crying because they didn't read the fine print then act like they got scammed. No, you're just a moron who doesn't read what they sign. Never understood ppl who sign up for things without reading their contract smh. I did this witb Atlantic city electric. My bill didn't even go up at all. With their help I pay nothing every month and then settle up every September for the months I went over my fixed rate and it's usually around 100. So I pay 100 per year for my electric and got the 200 dollar gift card because I was already a customer for over 3 years at that point. I still have the gift card with like 35 dollars that I haven't used. If you do it right and actually read everything it can be beneficial to some and not beneficial to others.

I believe this is the same Co. who has a failed history in the phone business. I refused to go with them even though my town did. They love to send out "scare static" letters!! 0These people are corporate scum

This is a rip off. Run. The cancellation for this company takes 1 to 2 months in which Smart Energy can still charge you for those 2 months. Can you say Rip off. They get you by telling you that at the end of your 6 month trial you'll receive a $100 visa gift card. All lies. They send you a post card of a gift card then ask you to do too much for it. Don't do it. Research for yourself before signing up. Its a battle trying to cancel.

I signed up for lower rate and 12th month electricity free advertisement.
After I mailed my billing copy, no response.
Approached them may different ways, email, leaving comment, no response.
Don't fall for it.

I signed up for their services and was told I would get a gift card. I called them when the 6 months was up. I called to get my gift card. They made me jump through some more hoops a few months ago. I never got my gift card. I feel like II was used and very disgusted with this business and they lied tp people. How can this be right?

This company sent to my 15 years old son Rodolfo Reyes, a bill as he have contract with them, and after months my mother and me calling they avoid to talk and resolve this matter, my mother paid all this money without any reason because my the electric bill is on my name Jesus Reyes, now call them because they sent a bonus of $100 dollars gift card on my son Rodolfo Reyes again to do the same thing, I talk to them and now they sent me congratulations for be part of this company as customer, this company is a SCAM, cancel every contract or contact with this company because after the 6 months that they promised small saved bill they sent you a huge bill up to 700 or more or that partial service...tomorrow Saturday I will call them and I gonna call THE NEW JERSEY NEWS too and every body to let they know what this company is doing ...putting a MINOR CHILD as the owner of the electric bill and charge money ....they have to pay me back all this money that they got for not service because this ATLANTIC CITY ELECTRIC is on my name JESUS REYES, NOT ON MY 15 YEARS OLD SON, THAT NO EVEN HAVE ID.

Bill stayed similar to original bill from supplier, UNTIL 6 months after I sign up and they jack my rate from .08/kWh to .19/kWh. NEVER again will I go through these clowns let alone recommend them to ANYONE

Kept receiving info in mail. I called it sounded great they told me, my bill would not go over $$ the current bill I had when I called them.it sounded great I verbally signed up on Dec 23, 2021.
Today 1-7-2022 I received their contract in the mail. After reading it in detailed, I knew I was misrepresented per tel conver that took place in Dec, with regards to a fixed rate.
so immediately I call smart energy to requested to cancel their contact, rep name was Willa from the Outside of the United States , , the representative Willa inform me CMP will not allow them to cancel prior to Jan 13, 2021.
I inform them I as of today 1-7- 2022, I am requesting cancellation of my service with Smart Energy, they refused even after speaking with 2 supervisor. I then called Central Maine Power informed them of the situation, that 3 reps informed they cannot cancel service, until January 13th. 2022. , CMP blocked smart energy from service.
I then called Public Utilities Commissioner filed a formal complaint against Smart Energy for misrepresentation.
I am going to contact every state Legislature in the state of maine and inform them what this company is doing. It is dead wrong for any company to misrepresentation or to not cancel your service. We consumers really need to do detail home work on foreign companies.
Please if anyone has trouble with smart energy contact your local Public Utilities Commissioner in your state their # is on your electric bill, file complaints and contact your local state legislature to stop this company from what their doing. I informed smart energy Im going to make them go blind on paperwork because I have nothing but time on my hands & I love writing hand written letters.
Please dont let your elderly parents etc fall for things such as this.

The offer said $100 gift certificate for new accounts. Right. The price was right at first. There it more than doubled. I had to change rather quickly. Without collecting my 100. Because The price was so high I couldnt afford to hold onto it long enough to complete the transaction.

My rates went from .107 to .184 without any notice from them. Please do not ever choose this company just a warning. I wouldn't even give them one star but had to to complete this.

They are absolutely so unprofessional and absolute thieves. I cancelled my service with them and they choice to only cancel my electric and not the gas. How convenient it was winter. I called over and over to speak with a supervisor and til this day I'm still waiting to hear from a supervisor the best part is they are great at setting up your account that there was no problem with. Lol Bottom line is that now I have to pay for the gas I cancelled. I am a disabled woman with 2 children and a $600 gas bill. They are absolutely a horrible company. I'll be home with no gas or electric cause they want to steal from people. Do not trust this company there are many other smart energy companies to use.

This company started out for us fine however I the past 6 months our electric bill soared to over $200 a month.. and we use wood for fuel. Ridiculous.. switched back to jcp&l and our bill has been on average &89.. very misleading. &100 gift card wasnt worth it.

Extremely shady company. They enrolled me on a variable plan after 6 months. I never signed up for it. Got an electric bill for over 525 dollars and 400 dollars was this companies carrier charge. Never received gift card of 100 dollars. Takes over a month to cancel them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

My Rates went up over 400% and the customer service agent tried to tell me it was because of my usage. Granted, my usage went up too but the rep blatantly lied about the rates, telling me a low rate when I was looking at the .25kwh.Thats just criminal

It started out ok and then our bill jumped to over 200.00. We called first energy and they sd they were charging us quadruple the regular price. Drop this company ASAp

MY BILL WAS $720.00 FOR ONE MONTH, THEN WHEN I CANCELLED THEM MY NEXT BILL WAS $620.00 EVEN THOUGH I STOPPED USING ALOT OF ELECTRICITY. They didn't give me any notice and doubled my bill. Don't sign up with them. Very unhappy with them

They hike their prices every month and take advantage of consumers and charge whatever they want. The charges never go down and it gets worse with each month and it is rough on seniors on fixed incomes who have budgets and have to keep paying extra each month. which isn't right.

I just moved to New Jersey and was not aware that NJ allows 3rd party energy suppliers, so when Smart Energy contacted me, I thought they were part of my electric company (Jersey Central Power & Light). I first spoke with their fast-talking, jargon spewing rep while on my cell phone in my car, so I was unable to check my current KPH rate (which nobody has memorized) but was assured they were offering me a special fixed rate which would "prevent bill increases". They also offered me a $100 Visa gift card if I signed up. My previous average bill with JCP&L was $36 per month. My first bill with Smart Energy was $319 (8x HIGHER)! I called Smart Energy, who first claimed that my consumption went up, but the bill I got from JCP&L (further enforcing the belief that the two were affiliated) said I only used 1 kilowatt more this month. Smart Energy said they don't claim to save anyone money and couldn't explain the actual purpose of their business. They also claimed to have no idea what JCP&L's KPH rate is (even though it's their only competitor), and said they couldn't anticipate my bill being 8x higher. I am a low income, single mother who cannot afford to pay this bill even if it was legitimate. The internet and BBB website are full of reviews from other people who also got scammed by this company, saying the same things I am stating. This company is a scam!

Horrible....do not fall for this, they promise gift cards you never receive.....they solicited in our apartment building where it says no soliciting....after 12 months of about $100 a month it shot up to $342 and then $711!!!!!!!! For one month in a small apartment, canceled them thru Duke and called them, they are supposedly refunding us $178 by check, I am going to report to the better business bureau, this is THIEVERY at its very worst, they need to get shut down!!!!!

Tricking new customers that they will save but in reality they charge way to much vs ur current provider. People check ur kwh rate vs what this company is offering. Don't be fooled by their $100 check. its not worth it

I never signed anything to be changed over to ( smart energy?). When I called them they said I had agreed to 19 cent rate in May (AC Electric charges 11 cents). When I received my August bill it was $400.00 for electric charges of $133.44!! They were charging $257.71 to supply!! What a rip off, I remember a young woman coming to my door but I never signed anything to change over my service. Be aware!

Smart Energy offers a fixed rate with $200 gift card. This is scam, don't fall to it.
Their fixed rate is actually triple than your current rate. If you don't check carefully, you will fall into the scam.

Signed up in Dec 2021: agreed to use smartenergy for at least 6 months in return for a VISA $200 card. Cancelled after 6 months. August 2022 received letter with PIN instructios "Simply call us with your P.I.N. before your next billing cycle (or no later than Septemver 15th) at 1-800-815-1978. We look forward to sending your $200 Visa Gift Card." ROFLMAO! Called, told "you don't qualify until after you sign up for 6 months", "you only qualify for $100 and you have to sign up for 1 year", "there is no supervisor available now so you may get a call between 48-72 hours. The supervisor now is dealing with another customer" and best "you can report us to whatever agency you want to contact." I hope the 3 'customer service representatives' I spoke to have given their parents, mothers, partners, spiritual leaders, and god a good rationale for how they are scamming the general populous into believing the 'promise' of $200 visa credit after meeting their requirements. My bad: I 'ass'umed ComEd had more integrity than to be a partner in such a blatant scam. Or maybe ComEd was scammed as well. Slick sales pitch and accurate product delivery until the customer wants to cash in their chips. Meanwhile I am waiting for my (insert country here) prince to provide all the riches and luxury any woman could ever dream of!

I was promised $100.00 gift card, which I never received.
After the 6 months was up, not only didn't I get the gift card promised, but I was charged exorbitant rates.
Way to rip off someone who is living on a fixed income.
In the mail, I received an offer to receive $200 in gift cards if I signed up with Smart Energyi feel this scam should not be allowed and will contact PUCO next.

This company is a complete scam. They tell you lies to get you to sign up and then they rob you blind. They will raise your bill 500 - 600 % more. No lie, your go from paying 89$ one month and the next month they charge you 624$. How is this even possible? Don't trust them, they are liars and thieves

They lure you in with hopes of receiving $100 to sign up with them, and saving on your monthly bills. when you call for information they say you have to be in their program 6 months to get the $100. And then when you get your 1st new month bill, be prepared to pay triple whatever you have normally paid. these people are thieves! Taking advantage of hard working people who are already dealing with the struggles of prices soaring everywhere. and they do not care! After I called to cancel I received another ridiculous bill the following month because "I didn't cancel before the next cycle began"! And they won't do anything but restate that calls are recorded and this is their policy. People do not be a fool like me, do deeper research on any third party program and make sure you get the best deal. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS

Didn't notice for several months because I thought it was my air conditioner. When I finally paid attention, they were charging me 27 cents per kw, or whatever it is, while my regular electric company was only charging 7 cents. I never signed up with them but some how I was switched and was told to watch my bill because they could switch me back without me knowing it.

There should be one of those class action lawsuits filed so we can get hundreds of our stolen dollars back from these rats.

I would give this company a big fat zero for a review if I could. Not worth your time. They lied on the phone repeatedly. I dropped them and will be helping others drop them as well. Extremely rude and dishonest.

Two years ago these people came knocking on my door. If their BS lies. My utility bill came up to $500. Normally I pay close to $60 a month. When I called them to cancel. They told me that they will. They also blamed me for my bill being up high by using too much energy. Like are you kidding me. I know how much I use a month. Crazy part I'm a single more on disability that had a disable needs child. I feel for they bS and I'm still paying for it. Now I'm on pipp with a $1600 bill because they waited after a year to end with their company. Now they coming around every other month and I be cussing they butts out. I had to put a Don't trespass on private property to keep these scammers from knocking on my door. THEY WILL EVEN TELL YOU ONCE YOU ASK IF THEY ARE SUPPLIERS... THEY WILL SAY NO THEY ARE NOT THAT THEY ARE SENT IN THE AREA TO GO TO PEOPLE THAT BING ON THERE COMPUTER. IM TELL YALL WATCH OUR FOR ALL SUPPLIES AND DONT FALL FOR THAT GIFT CARD YOU WILL BE PAYING MORE THEN THAT GIFE CARD AND YOU WILL NVER EVER GET IT

I was charged $1900 because they decided to change my rate to 0.23200 per Kwh without my knowledge and now I am stuck with the bill they didnt try to help or resolve the issue and the representative was very unprofessional and talked nasty to me she told now that im not with them I wont have to worry about them anymore wow! After two years of service! Im am lost for words!

Oh boy I had a narrow escape from this major scam. They send you post cards with 100$ gift card and trick you into thinking it is from JCP&L. Small letters it says Smart Energybut smart energy is like Colaelbow are we supposed to know it is the name of the company? JCPL also can have smart energy!

My bill has tripled, horrible customer service , what a scam ! I am reporting them and warning everyone to stay away!

Scammers, thieves, liars!!!! Everyone that works with smart energy will get a nice reward from KARMA. Karma is a bitch and scammers pay the price if not in this life then in the next one

"Don't use SmartEnergy" I locked in a couple weeks ago through Powertochoose.org web site, received a welcome & successful enrollment letter and confirmation number and now they won't honor commitment because rates increased. I filed complaint with TUC.(edited)

Twice I have had an appointment for a consultant to telephone me but no one called.
This has been very inconvenient and a waste of my time.
This does not reflect well on this company.

Waited months for gift card paid all bills on time ! Waited six months with PIN number and confirmation number. Smart energy said I canceled service .Not true at all

Smart energy recently called my 75 year-old mother and trick her into joining them. I tried calling several times to have them take my mother off and to no avail my mother received another letter from Smart energy. This company takes advantage of the elderly my mother also has dementia. How dare you guys, prey on the elderly shame on you !!! Im disgusted! Take my mother out of this BS COMPANY! Wants to charge me 50% more than comed. I cancelled with them over the phone. Was told I'd have a rate closer to 7¢ per kilowatt. Got the letter from them and it was 10¢. I cancelled with Smart energy. Funny he could bring my rate down to 9¢. Thieving people over the phone. Don't trust smart energy.

Smart energy is a scam. My bill doubled since I got them. I called them to take me off that. How I go from paying 200-300 a month to 600 in one month. Nah I'm good.

Believe me and trust me. Do NOT do business with this company. I was paying three times what I was paying with AC Electric. After I cancelled and demanded a partial refund, they continued to charge me an additional two months. I got switched back finally but kept receiving calls from them and ended up blocking their number. A class action lawsuit must be filed against them. Smart Energy is criminal and the fact that our govt allows this company to exist doing what they do is criminal also. This is wrong and action must be taken against them.

Their promotions are a scam . You will pay more in the long run . Not a good company!!! Do not trust them

Smartenergy offers 25 cents per KwH whereas PSG&G offers 12 cents per KwH. The only difference to offset the additional cost comes thru the $100 rebale. It takes 2 months to enroll and 2 months to cancel. THese were cleverly sent out in the spring or fall so thast they get your 25 cents per KwH when your expenses increase based on your heat and cooling needs for summer/winter. NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH FIXED INCOMES!

What they fail to tell you is when they say they will never go more than 20% higher. They do not mean higher than others. They mean every month they can charge you 20% higher rate than the rate they gave you the month before So in 3 months you are paying so much more. I never looked at it much and that is what they prey on. Now I am paying 100% increase for my supply!!!

I manage my neighbors/friends electric account, Smart Energy told her via telephone their rate was better, obtained her contact thru ppl, (I changed her to NO SHARING), they switched her from a rate .067 Cirro good company, to .1023. She had a contract w/cirro for 2/18 - 2/19 and would have had cancellation charges to boot. Cirro did not charge her and was great to help me solve this injustice, ppl could see that she had been scammed and did nothing about this and made it harder to get back to Cirro without first charging their increased rates for 7 days.

Will never trust anything they have to say. Was promised a $100 gift card after 6 months of service. Got the run around and never received card. Talked into continuing for one more month to get the card. My bill was tripled this month and never got the card. Called twice to cancel, finally called my electric company. I had to go through the electric company to finally get them off my bill.

This company allowed someone who is not listed as an authorized representative for myself or my electrician bill to make changes to my account WITHOUT verifying they were allowed to make changes. My landlord thought they were being helpful in order to get $100 gift card they assumed would be credited to my electric bill. They did not realize they were changing my generation supplier! This company makes ZERO effort to ensure they aren't committing fraudulent acts. Thankfully there was no cancelation fee. They sent the postcard about the $100 gift card to my LANDLORD!!! It wasn't even sent to the service address & yet they still allowed changes to be made. Next is a complaint to the BBB!!!

They send you this postcard with a pin number and say it is a "$100 thank you gift card" that they are giving you for 6 months of being a customer. It is all a lie. When you call, the sales lady tells you she has to switch your energy supplier to someone else, that it is the same but just cheaper, etc etc...she is intentionally confusing. Then *After six months of paying at their new rate* they will send the gift card. So basically, this is just to disappoint people who think they are going to get money, instead getting scammed into spending more with a different company. This is the most misleading ad I've ever gotten. It is really cruel actually, because the people who are most disappointed are those who are the most desperate.

Received a what I assumed was a gift card for the electric provider I had switched to a month before. Called to activate and made the mistake of switching because I honestly didnt understand a word the lady was saying because she must have just learned English to work there. Anyway bill went from .08 kWh to .1945972, seriously brought the bill up another $100. I feel so dumb, anyway called to try and cancel it and it took around 45 minutes and had to call multiple times.

This company is a scam makes your bill 5x higher then normal even though they put you in on fixed rates and a $100 gift card. I never even got my card. Asked them to remove me from their service when I called and told them about not getting my card. They told me they are sending a new one and will cancel the service. I still never got the card. Come to find out they never removed the service. I had to take them off and my bill by calling PECO monthly later and my bill gone down greatly. Wish I never started up with them. Owe a lot that I cant pay because they continued my service after I told them to take me off. They take money from people that need it most

SmartEnergy is a fraud. SmartEnergy over charged me on my electric bill. When I received my bill in August and September it was $499.00 total I was shocked. I called SmartEnergy about this matter.I called 4 different times talk to 4 different agents they kept changing their stories, putting me on hold, cutting me off the 3 female agents had bad attitude they was very unprofessional. Just because I caught them all in their lies. That when I told them I going to file a claim against SmartEnergy with
the PUC, BBB, small claim court and going to the media about this matter. That when they wanted to make a deal with me to lower my current and final electric bill only if I stay with SmartEnergy. The agents refused to tell me how much they was lowing my bill too and they also stated if I don't commit to staying with SmartEnergy while I was on the phone.I had to pay the current amount of $499.00 electric billThe SmartEnergy agents kept repeating that me over and over again about staying with
SmartEnergy. SmartEnergy agents never answered none of my questions. At this point I had enough I just said no I'm not staying with SmartEnergy. Before I ended the call. I let the agents know again I'm filing claims against SmartEnergy. If you are a new customer who want to sign up to SmartEnergy please don't do it. Go to the BBB website there you will see a long list of complaints against SmartEnergy. The so call free $100 gift cards that SmartEnergy give to their new customers you are paying it back with the high charges you get on your electric bill. Yes your electric bill will be low (maybe I don't know) for the first year when the next year come watch out just saying.

My bill went up over $200! Never got the $100 gift card. Was assured that my bill would go down. Avoid this company and who ever approaches you to switch suppliers! You will regret it.

First month I got screwed my bill came up to 1146 I was billed by both med-ed and smart energy at the same time they told me I had to pay the bill

Smart Energy are scammers!! DO NOT FALL FOR THE GC PROMOTION! They sell that they can lower your energy costs but in fact their rate is higher than your current supplier and could not match the rate. It's just an additional charge on your bill!!

This company was not truthful from the beginning
Don't fall for the gimmick they are trying to sale.
Your bill will increase by 250 to 600 dollars more in the end.
I plan on alerting all the proper authorities to close this business as well as reimbursement to those taken by this company.

Sending gift cards to minors isnt cool. If you cant get people to switch to your company a legitimate way then maybe you shouldn't be in business. And where did you even get their names?

I live in an all electric model home, never had a bill for more than $250.00 in 27 years.. Two months with Smart Energy, last month $31536, this month $474.92.. Can I give NO STARS ??

This company needs to be closed ASAP. They continuously try to reel people in with a promise of 200 gift cards after 6 months of being a customer but when you sign up not only does your bill increase a significant amount but you don't even receive the gift card! You can say oh you have to read the fine print all you want but it still doesn't make up for the fact that they don't send you what is promised and the customer service department (actually the entire company) is extremely rude and unprofessional. When I called to inquire about the gift card the representative was rude so I hung up and stated I would call them back at a later date. The representative took it upon himself to call me back and leave a voicemail on my phone stating to not call them back and I do this over and over again and that I am wasting their time. Whats wasting time is this company continuously trying to scam me. When I called back to get the name of the rep who left me the message I encountered yet another rude representative named Miguel who refused to give me his name and stated "well you should know who you spoke with I'm not giving you any information". Then thought I was going to just hang up after he stated his manager was not available for 4-5 minutes because he was on a call. I waited 10 mins only for the supervisor Frank to come on try to cut me off as Im explaining the situation and eventually transferring me to the customer service department to make an "official complaint". even that representative tried to get me off the phone. This entire company is a joke and I felt I was being pranked the entire time. I reported them to the BBB and I suggest everyone do the same. There is no reason a company has nothing but complaints and can still operate. Their entire review section is filled with 1's and even that is generous, If i could rate them -10 I would. And the one review that is 5/5, you are either straight up lying or you are the company trying to write your own review "SmartConsumer". Just a joke.

Sent me "met Ed refund check" you get the so called refund if you buy their service at almost .05 cents increase on your bill. Don't fall for this BS
