Problems with Fees and Charges (702 reviews)
Gassed by Spark Energy
“
After claiming at least a 5% savings compared to PG&E, charges for gas about the same for first 6 mos. Next 6 mos. Spark began charging about 50% MORE than PG&E (without notice). What a rip-off!
Very unethical company. ”

Just another - not really cheaper, but watch those fees!
“ I have been a customer for long time, switched today finally my contract was over. The main reason is because the day I get my bill I only have 5 days to pay (according to due date) or they charge a late fee (AND THEY DO EVEN IF ONE DAY LATE- EVERY TIME!). And they get rude about it when I call them and ask why they do not allow say 14-20 days (like most) before charging. They do this because they want to force autodrafting, and I refuse. Thus I refuse to stay with them any longer. Plus they are not cheaper by much if at all even without the late fees every month. ”

I Pray They Go Out Of Business
“ I pray they go out of business so that I can get out of this contract. They held my bill in June and July 2009, a couple of the hottest months in Texas and I have to pay a total of $1500 in electrictiy bills. PUCTX writes to ask them for a deferred billing plan but I will be charged late fees because they held my bills! Also, they are now one of the more expensive providers. PUCTX as usual is very unhelpful and is not about consumer protection. I pray JustEnergy/USEnergy goes out of business so I can choose a provider at a better rate. Of course, with them charging nearly 8 cents more per kwh, they can afford to stay in business longer than most. ”

Buyer Beware!!
“ I used Town Square Energy for several years. During the ridiculous rate increase and fees by the State of Connecticut's PURA , TSE took full advantage, and without notice, increased the supply rate by four times the original agreed upon rate. When I called to enroll in their then current promotional rate which was much lower, they denied us. I tried to cancel and they said it would take two billing cycles which is a flat out lie. I called ES and they explained how easy it was to switch out of TSE which took immediate effect. Stay away from this company - I find their price gouging to be an unfair business practice! ”

Doubled costs without notice
“ Not only was my October 2023 bill shockingly high, they lied when I called and tried to cancel. They said they would switch me to a flat-rate promtional plan, but my most recent bill is still at almost 25 cents per kwh, twice what Atlantic City Electric charges. So I dropped them but still have to pay another full month of charges. I'm furious and confused, as I've been using them for years with no hassles. ”

Frontier Utilities is a horrible!
“ Frontier Utilities is horrible! On Jan 31, 2023one of the coldest days in Magnolia, TX (35 degrees)Frontier disconnected service after I paid half of my bill $898 (highest in my life!) as directed to avoid disconnection on Jan, 30. My 95 year-old mother, who is a stroke survivor was without heat, oven, nor refrigeration. Again, I contacted Frontier Customer service which takes up to 20 mins. to speak to humans (who are in EL SALVADOR) they said I was supposed to contact them after payment and I nullified the agreement even though I paid exactly as directed.I have lived in the same single-family residence without any change in sq. ft. nor additional appliances for 15 years and HAVE NEVER had the high bills I have received from Frontier over the last 8 months supposedly on a 0.13 cent/KWht rate. Ultimately, their practices are unethical, their fees are SO exorbitant, and their customer service so difficult to communicate withI am another energy Servicer. The $150 fee is nothing compared to their charges/fees/rates/penalties they have taken me for up to date. Dont be fooled by their allegedly low kilowatt rates. Its a deceptive trick. You will pay in every way! ”

Scam
“
There variable rates are nonsense. I know more than the avg joe about t.p.suppliers especially after much research.
Firstly constellation is 1 of the very few suppliers that charge a monthly fee for having them as your supplier.... 95% of t.p.suppliers do not.
Also there cancellation fees are extremely high. If there pricing is so good, why is there a $150 cancelation fee? Most suppliers do not have cancellation fees. Don't choose constellation as your supplier, don't believe me do some research online and dig... you'll see ”
